Exceptional Pianist Dan Chadburn Explores A Dozen Different Keys On New CD

Here is something unusual on a new musical album. Pianist Dan Chadburn arranged each of the twelve pieces on his new album in a different musical key (one reason he calls the recordings KEYS OF LIGHT). Since various people inspired the music, Chadburn says the different keys represent how every person is unique.

This is exceptional music. On most of the material Chadburn mixes in strings (either as a section or as an individual violin or viola or cello) plus other orchestral sounds such as the French horn or English horn, two instruments that have such a warm, throaty, gliding sound, it is always a pleasure to hear them. And in this context, playing off an acoustic piano, it really sets up their sounds perfectly so that they can be easily heard and appreciated.

This album somehow covers both new age territory but also modern classical. It just shows that there is always something new to say on piano, a venerable instrument, that warms our spirit, especially when mixed with a few select classical instruments.
