I am trying to upload a profile picture but I get this instead.

Your file of 265.8 KB bytes exceeds the forum's limit of 100.0 KB for this filetype.

When you create the avatar (profile picture) make sure that it is 100 Kb or less on your computer. This is a very small file and it is easy to have a file that is too large.

if needed..copy photo into your photo/pictures files then edit it to required size by changing the imaging size ..then save it..then upload to site.. I have to do this alot of times on different sites that require certain image ratios.

How do I do that?

I don't know how to do it.

What format for the avatar are you trying to upload? If it's anything other than avi, bmp, gif, jpeg or jpg the system will not recognize it.

Also the image must be no larger than 80 x 80 pixels or nor more than 100 kb whichever is smaller.

That should be okay ... if the JPG file is larger than 100 KB it will fail during upload.

To determine the size do the following for a saved image:

  1. Open the file where the image is saved.
  2. Place your cursor over the image icon, and right-click if you are using a PC or Ctrl-click if you are using a Mac.
  3. Choose Properties.
  4. Click the Details tab.
  5. Scroll down to the:

  • Image section - To view the image dimensions.
  • File section - To view the image file size.

Do you have any photo or image editing software? If so you should be able to resize your image.

There are some free online resizers, (Google "online image resizer" and pick one) upload your avatar image, set the size in pixels, (max 80x80 for this forum) save back to your PC then upload to the forum.
