Hey, all. This is an interesting, if a bit 'quiet', place.

I'm just an ol' piano whacker in Michigan. I used to play piano on the South Side of Chicago in the '60's with some fairly well-known blues guys, followed by some touring in the early '70's, before doing a slow fade to green, reluctantly getting a 'real' job and putting the music away for way too long.

I'm retired now, trying to figure out how to develop and orchestrate my 'contemporary classical' pieces, in between recording lot's of whacky stuff in REAPER.

Soooo... what's goin' on?

Hi Boot ... and welcome to our forum :)

I too had to put music in the back seat while I was grinding the mill for income; retired from that in 2006 and now devote time to music, ushering at music venues, helping administrate this site and one other (owned by same person) and picking up part time work during the various election seasons in Arizona.

We hope that you will take a look around the site. Lots to see ... and tell your friends about the site too.

yeah! After replying to a comment of yours in my thread,
I feel ready for you here.
For other members, "boot" has been to a village in Ontario near me.

Being the undisputed "The Fount of Font & The Earl of Url",
let me input Michigan.
Oh!
In 1977 I ordered custom SRO speakers from Michigan, $325 each,
because Altec Lansing and JBL didn't have the specs I wanted.
I was playing a Strat through a Marshall with effects,
for seven months before Jimi Hendrix passed away,
serious about being a lead guitarist.

The only times I went through Michigan myself,
was coming back from Sault Ste. Marie,
a short-cut back to Canada.

I've got an old Roland Piano Plus 400, a full size electric from the seventies,
with MIDI, that I use to jam in Cm on, what I do to be jazzy or classical.
$60. I need a clavinet to round that out with a couple of two octave Korg synths.
All that should be sitting on top of a Hammond Porta-B.

You're right about it being quiet around here, but that changes.

....... and picking up part time work during the various election seasons in Arizona....

Well, I can't TRUMP that! (get it? 'Trump'... never mind). Thanks for the welcome, Kh.

Sounds like you lead a pretty active 'retirement.' Mine is occupied mostly with the never-ending challenge of finishing this too-big-for-two craftsman bungalow that I probably never should have started. C 'est la vie.

Let me re-state that.

I let the 'house finishing' take up just enough of my daily allotment of hours so as to not feel guilty when I run-off to my studio to engage in - guess what - musical endeavors.

Well, back to my quest for the magic answers.

I see you couldn't trump that, even if I did.
The disUnited States has become a clown act,
A very professional clown act.
