England leaving the Euro zone

This has gotta be the first time I've ever tried starting a thread,
because I don't know what's going on and don't know what to say.
This week, a lot of people are talking about what's going on in Europe,
financially. I don't have cable TV, American-Canadian news upsetting me.
But,
when I see teddy saying "brave new world", and JHC saying "old blighty",
I see a topic that should keep going, and going, and going,
not exactly like the Energizer Bunny,
but hip-hopping along, only now not with song, but with countries and their money.
Richery of a new digital reality, while our direct deposits get slackered down.
Twitchery, addictive wealth, seein'stock prices tweakin'around to that money sound.
All I'll say is, if it was about actually having to hold and handle the money,
and transport it between countries, most of this simply wouldn't be happening.
uh, yeah, let's get down, really down,
so if any of use wants to send me some foreign money orders,
so I can cash'em'in, an'tell you what today's exchange rate is,
I'll do that for you, workin'it true for you, an'do'it back'atcha soon,
yeah, puff a cash cloud, you should do your first currency ex-change.
use a disposable an'I'll keep you in my cell. I'm bein'the JusAssKing.

John, England has not left the EU, Great Britain has voted to leave. Scotland has stated that they voted to remain in, but this was a national vote, not country by country. Great Britain will leave the EU. If Scotland then wish to join they will have to apply AFTER voting to split from the rest of GB and once they are a sovereign state. This could easily take 10 years or more to come about. Meanwhile they will lose the subsidies which the English give them such as free university fees and health prescriptions. I think it will be very tough for them. Meanwhile British fishermen are celebrating as they will be allowed to catch fish again.

Hey! Almost every Scottish adult has a Masters Degree from a Scottish University.
Sons and daughters of the Gael and Scottish people had a clan community,
when the bottom half of the island, below Hadrian's Wall, was Roman territory.

And, and, if you want to meet me in England to fight about it,
sure, let's call Scotland Yard to settle it.
The northern island peoples of Scotland have always been generous to the world.
It's the brutal English domination of offshore oil that makes them want to keep a grip,
and it's an oily grip that can only slip, that they don't understand.

The American-English presence in the European Union has always been suspect,
and recent episodes of Americans hacking foreign finances has now been proven.
By the attitudes here, I can see no-one would be supporting that,
but even then, I can't regret being negative about Americans and English.

English don't like fish. They just like the whitest, most tasteless fish.
English also saw their first use of electricity as the lamps of the light of our Lord,
what the weird and wired showed them, and came up with their own use, lampreys.
If they didn't bring them to Lake Ontario and Lake Erie to take away native resources,
Canadian fishermen would be celebrating.

Some have suggested another referendum???? yeh thats what is needed and if the results don't reverse the first result then have another and another until until you get what you want. What if other countries decide to get out? Australia really wants to join the EU so all will not be lost.

Long live the muscles of Brussels

 just kiddin

. . . just shows how big a buffoon Trump is, I do hope he doesn't become POTUS, although the alternatives don't look much better.

The alternative would be worse, imho. I'm thinking now that Trump and Clinton are in cahoots with each other making sure that Hil gets the election this time for sure. Scarry. Trump used to be a Democrat himself and has contributed sums of money to the Clintons foundations.

Oh well it ain't over until the fat lady sings. Heaven help us all in the US if either buffoon wins ... yikes, we just don't have a good selection this time around.

As for the EU mess, that process will take at least two years to complete and the clock hasn't yet started (according to our news sources). Again, the opera ain't over until ... ... ...! Time will tell ...

I thought they could be out in under 6 mths it was just trade deals that could stretch to a couple of years, just shows you have to be careful who you bed down with which is why I am not a supporter of the TPP deal.
The big Tobacco corp (Imperial Tobacco ?) is going to sue little old nz because we are to make plain packaging mandatory and hope to be smoke free by 2020, a dream wellllll, an awful lot of places you are not allowed to smoke now so......just maybe.

This is informative for me.
I looked up POTUS in the Encyclopaedia Britannica,
and it's an acronym first used to be secretive using wire and telegraph services.

Bill and Hillary were set up to be the first husband and wife team, yeah, modern in the States,
but for some reason the rest of the world didn't see them as a loving and supportive couple.
Getting a "black man" to be president might have sedated most of the offshore world,
but George W. Bush built three drone bases while Obombya built 124 and counting.

It does take a big buffoon like Donald Trump to make Hillary look good.
He defrauded real estate and residential investors with his Toronto, Ontario project.
Hillary might bronze her clit and wear it like a necklace,
but "Ivana, Ivana, Ivant it all", Trumps that.

(ADMIN: my line about "bronze her clit" was used during a "Sons of Anarchy" episode.
C'mon, do you really think I'd fantasize that? You know I'm more about their gilt.

‘Won’t you join our Common Market?’ said the spider to the fly,

‘It really is a winner and the cost is not too high’.

‘I know De Gaulle said ’’ Non’’, but he hadn't got a clue,

‘We want you in, my friends and I, as we have plans for you.

‘You’ll have to pay - a little more - than we do, just for now,

‘As Herr Kohl said, and I agree, we need a new milch cow,

‘It’s just a continental term, believe me , mon ami,
‘Like ‘’Vive la France’’ or ‘’Mad Anglais’’ or even ‘’E.E.C.’’.

‘As to the rules, don’t worry friend, there’s really but a few,

‘You’ll find that we ignore them - but they all apply to you.

‘Give and share between us, that’s what it’s all about,

‘You do all the giving, and we all share it out.

‘It’s very British, is it not, to help a friend in need?
‘You've done it twice in two World Wars, a fact we must concede.
‘So climb aboard the Market Train, don’t sit there on the side,

‘Your continental cousins want to take you for a ride’

I not only bow to your excellence,
I'm going back to read it again.

JHC! I was thinking you were making a political reference,
but the "muscles from Brussels", isn't that Jean Claude VanDamme?

Not that I saw myself as the lyrical, if not too wordy typist here,
no, not at all, especially after reading this again. Nice, very nice.

Our world is coming asunder.

Sorry not my own work, apart from the copy/paste action.

However I also found this:-

For those not wanting to leave there is a constitutional requirement for parliament (see quote below) to observe when voting to go to Article 50, which, in view of some of the revelations of inaccurate claims by the Brexit camp, could negate the referendum result

First, it could decide not to grant this power at all. As some of the core claims made by the leave campaign unravel, Parliament might decide that the case for Brexit has not been made – or was gained under a false prospectus.

Yeh, well it just shows that home work was not done, and there is always a "get out of jail" card which is usually in favour of the Corporate elite, England can make trade deals with other countries and if this was not sounded out before the referendum then it was a shoddy preamble. England must decide in or out not a bit of each IMO.

And where is Monica L these days

Waiting for Don ... or ... Hill ...

. . . an awful lot of places you are not allowed to smoke now so . . .

Same here. The entire UofA campus is non-smoking (not even vaping) ... all public buildings are non-smoking ... major employers, like the one I retired from 10 years ago, are now 100% tobacco free.

Doesn't matter to me as I quit almost 12 years ago ... cold turkey ... then I started eating more and contracted Diabetes ... <sigh> ... when one evil is gotten rid of another pops into life ...

Dorsetmike! You don't have to apologize for not creating the original poem.
If you were acting like you came up with it, and others complained,
you can say it was a tribute for the author, or just change a word in each verse,
so legally, you can say it's yours.
John Lennon was the first major recording artist to admit he copied other lines,
defending that by saying it was a tribute to other artists,
and then he used lines from old Beatle songs, to further obfuscate.
Plausible deniability, those Brits in America.

You might think this is simple to say, and it is. Look at the font we are using.
When computers were first being built, they used the font from the Letraset catalogue.
Computer programmers changed one upper case and one lower case, to beat royalties,
saying "like Helvetica medium", or "like Franklin extended bold", or "like JHC bent distended".
I've got an original Letraset catalogue printed on white paper,
before they printed it on blue so photocopiers couldn't blow them up for free use.

all my font is packed, and it's ready to go,
I'm typing here, inside this thread,
I'm so lonely now, I would type anything.
publish me, so I get off,
I'll try to rhyme, and make you laugh,
fretting fingers hit the keyboard just for us.
all my wit is gone, wit'out it now,
this is the end, all I got to show...

Boris gets out, Farage gets out  makes you wonder if the establishment is brandishing it's big stick again.

Would seem you can blame press baron Murdoch, he who calls the shots in UK government, if he tries to pull something in Brussels the EU just laugh at him whereas when in London he says "jump" the UK government say "how high?" (think he's also chummy with Trump)

What I'm reading here is more than I'm seeing over here, in Ontario.
This has become non-news now, and I'm looking.
