    My Live Orchestra Works (PDF Scores Inside)

    Hey guys,

    I did some live recordings with the Budapest Scoring Orchestra just a while ago which I'd love to share with you:

    They had just around 25 minutes to record each piece but pretty much nailed it (like the runs in the middle part of Spaghetti Con Brio are really ridiciously hard! Watch them cracking up on those, lol ).

    This might reveal me as totally inexperienced with a "scoring orchestra",
    but I have to ask.
    I had a girlfriend who played with the Ottawa Symphony and the Ottawa Symphony Orchestra,
    so I know the difference there.
    What does it take to be part of a "scoring orchestra"?
    I'm thinking fast sight-reading abilities, oh yeah, with professional instruments,
    but "Budapest"?
    Was this an online or mail order thing, or were you there conducting them yourself?

    And just as much, were you trying to think what Jimi Hendrix would do,
    okay, or Paganini or Wagner?

    Yes! There are many orchestras - most of them based in eastern Europe, and (way!) more expensive ones in LA/London are as well - which call
    them self "scoring orchestras". Basically as they mostly record film soundtracks/scores!

    And yes, you need really insane side-reading skills to qualify for any of those orchestras

    Thank you for answering my question,
    and I'll continue by commenting on "Spaghetti Con Brio".
    I was surprised how short it was, but as I listened I could visualize a scene.
    I know spaghetti, even if I only cook with spaghettini,
    and I see "Con" as being like "Via Con Dios".
    Italian friends down the street got their own delivery of Italian drinks,
    and I'd buy some Brio from them to take home sometimes.
    That's a lot of font that doesn't add up to much,
    until I saw your "manic chef" subtitle, what gave me the scene idea.

    For me, a scene idea make this music part of a soundtrack, not a stand-alone composition.
    I'm sure you'd write a far longer one if you were thinking an orchestral piece.
    It has a sense of urgency, like someone is hustling around in a hurry.
    Here in North America, in the black and white era,
    this could have been the soundtrack where a skyscraper is being built in New York,
    showing all the beams going up and the rivets being tossed around as it rises.
    Your piece isn't hard core enough for that and there isn't anything metallic about it,
    even if I'm thinking a manic chef might be banging some pots and pans, sometimes.

    What the ending does for me is signify that it all comes together at the end,
    a happy conclusion, where I imagine waiters taking out the plates to the customers.
    okay... okay... I made so many signs for pizzerias where I got to cook my own food,
    I can also imagine the chef turning the pie in the oven once more and shutting the door,
    call that a decrescendo, or some pizzeretto, if you want to.

    I have to admit I was surprised to see you had some oboes in there.
    Did you add them because they came with the orchestra?
    And if I'm seeing oboes, I don't think I saw any bassoons.

    You have all my respect as a musician for being able to compose and produce such comprehensive music.
