Pity I can't get into 'Officers Mess' to see what the topic says about perceived decline in classical music.

Is it really a hard and fast rule to make 50 posts first.

Hey, elderpiano, I just came from my latest posting in "the perceived decline in classical music",
and more than anything else, I represent the reasons most people see a decline in classical music,
if they're seeing any at all.
I don't.
Classical music, also called royalty free music, is the biggest part of the soundtracks of our lives.

That was on topic. In the thread, everything classical is being declined without a lot of declension.
My photos of the changing colours on the Adam Beck generating station in Niagara Falls,
do add a certain classical decline of Egyptian architecture, even if the moon-clouds are modern.
And that's all about the DC, the DC, the DC, that's all about the DC, not all that ACDC.
uh... what are you looking forward to now?
Krummhorn, JHC, and other members, do go on about this domain and others, in a very informative way.
I'm willing to say that as elderpiano, your opinion is necessary.

I like the forum and don't particularly think that classical music is on the decline, which is great considering it is up against the incessant torrent of modern pop , which is usually the first genre of music that youngsters are introduced to, including me when I was a teeny bopper. Perhaps it is classical composers that are on the decline, and not the music so much. I may be wrong, but there is a wonderful choice of classical old and new to discover out there . I got into classical music just by being interested in playing/learning an instrument and listening to Beethoven, Mozart, then I explored more and more made more discoveries, and still not heard all I would like to hear. I love the baroque and renaissance era, but like Romantic too.

I was listening to this video the other day , by Ben Zander. He really sparked my enthusiasm all over again, with his brilliant talks. We need this in schools.

Back to the topic ...

No, I don't think there is a decline in in Classical Music. Locally we have a plethora of classical concert venues and a classical concert almost every two weeks.

Just attended one yesterday at my own church ... a Trio (violin, cello and piano) played works of Chopin and Dvorak.

That's good Krummhorn, Where I live the churches hold regular classical music concerts all year round. Do you think the acoustics are better in a Large Church or Hall? :).
