You keep posting and I'll back you up.
    Norwich, ex-Glasgow.
My mothers' father served a seven year sign-painting apprenticeship in Glasgow and Edinburough.
That's "eden-burra", in English, "the eden of the north". His name was Randle Fairfoull.
I still have and use some of the stencils he brought over with him before the first world war.
I still use a piece of luggage his wife brought over.

I'm not always picking up, because I'm very picky, both up and down and all around.

All good things come to an end, and everything has its season.

If MIMF has to fade, let it do so with grace and honour. With friendly posts - reaching out to others, not egocentric - and with posts which are mainly about music, since this is a music forum.

Nobody will join the forum, and nobody will return to it, if the posts don't interest them.

And the posts won't be interesting, unless they are saying something in a sensible and civil way.

That's the way I see it, anyway.

Live long and prosper - anyone who's reading.
    (Well, you never know! )

There is a poster, a magle.dk poster, who comes from far away,
her postings are new each day,
and now I'm reading, my heart is heeding,
what this new member has to say.

For the fields of font aren't so empty now,
they're descriptive now, a new field to plow,
let your words flow like they're blowing chaff,
and we'll all glean what we can.

there is a poster, a brand new poster...

One thing that intrigues me is that there are often said to be 20 people looking at the pipe organ forum and 17 looking at the classical music forum, but as there are so few new posts, what can they be a-doing of?

I've been answering questions here about the lack of people logging in and posting,
by saying there are so many viewers.
I never thought about it enough to see if the numbers are the same all the time,
but then, I'm coming at you from Niagara Falls time, many time zones away.

I could wait a thousand years now.

I expect that most of those reading will have an idea as to what the problem is.

I've enjoyed my time on this forum so far.

I think most forums eventually peter out some. I don't remember how I found this one, probably just doing a Google search for classical music forums. There were quite a few forums I joined when I was going nuts with seeing all sorts of new communities pop up, but there was also Facebook and places like Reddit, and there is a lot of competition for discussions and people's attentions. I eventually grew overwhelmed with all of the places I was going, and adult life with kids eventually took over most of my time. It's nice this one is still around at least a little bit.

It's nice that you popped back too!
As you say, forums have their heyday, and then fade a little.

I don't know if moribund is a variation of cumbered, or I just think it rhymes.
Being able to finally do an embedded video has unencumbered my posting approach.
The new thread I just started has been the best for me as far as font and videos can take you.
And now I'm wondering if Cumberbatch is a stage name or Benedict was really born with it.

Will universities and colleges around the world embrace my thread thesis, recognizing a new art-form,
and raise the members ships? Or has my ship already staled?
yeah.... sometimes I'm not even sure what I'm looking at, even if I get a photo.

Sometimes they just sits and thinks and sometimes they just sits.

What it doesn't tell you is if they're members or not or even just the friendly neighbourhood search bots that index the site. I read far more than I post about.

I suppose that even '20 reading' is small beer when you consider that there are thousands of members and hundreds of members on the bigger internet forums.
There seem only to be between two and ten active members on MIMF - sadly.

And mostly towards the lower number. Still, this will make a fascinating archive for The Next Generation.

This is an interesting read - an article on How to Revive a 'Dead' Online Community:

    http://www.managingcommunities.com/2...ead-community/

I agree with a lot of what it says - but if nobody tries or has the will to try, then nothing will come of nothing.
