When I started playing my brothers' acoustic guitar and then bought an electric for myself,
I went to the library to take out classical, symphony and jazz albums, to go with my guitar based rock.
After a while I stopped taking symphonies and operas out, wanting to hear piano, organ and chamber pieces.
I'll admit, chamber pieces were easier to understand, as music and sonic positioning, than symphonies.
If I hadn't been onstage during a rehearsal with the Ottawa Symphony I would never have known.

The two classical pianists that I ended up taking out all the time, ignoring the rest,
were Vladamir Horowitz and Vladamir Ashkenazi. Horowitz was middle-aged and Ashkenazi a junior.
This isn't the thundering, demanding and challenging Vladamir Horotwitz that is my favorite,
and almost as much for seeing him doing a gig at this age, yeah... it's really good to see and hear him.
