Geographic composer abc game

Ok, following Krummhorn`s fine idea, the game here is alphabetical by country, and then the composer surnames A-Z once.

Although I find America should really be under U, for United States of America, we`ll start with it because I can at least think of an American composer whose name starts with A!

Leroy Anderson-

Here are a few of my favourite compositions by him- Sleigh Ride, Blue Tango, The Syncopated Clock, The Typewriter.

Next post should be an American composer, last name starting with B.

Aaron Copland brilliant composer known more recently for some of the best movie music scores.

Does the next one (starting with "D") have to be American, or just from a country starting with "A"?

Anyway, here's one of each: David Leo Diamond (from America) and Johann Nepomuk David (from Austria).

Thanks for leaving me the easy one, guys.

George Gershwin

Favourites by him- Rhapsody in Blue, Piano Concerto....

As to selecting Burma as the next country, please don`t! (nothing personal, Burma- just don`t know your composers )

Howard Hanson (just love his symphonies!).

(Good grief - the next one is easy, again.)

Gershon Kingsley (of "Popcorn" fame - I don't know why, but that piece hypnotized me when I was a kid).

Ellen Jane Lorenz -

Could this be the first woman composer to make the list? The gals here should like that
There is a publishing company with the same last name here in the US. Not sure if this name is known by my colleagues in Canada or across the pond.

Maybe we can accept a movie composer in such hard cases: David Newman (e.g. Anastasia, The Ice Age).

At loss for the next one?

HINT: what's the country of origin of many North-Americans of European descent?

Dear Ms. RoJo,

Thanks for your empathy - thou art a blessed presence on MIMF :)

Gee, this game has gotten pretty hard as of late - yes, I love a challenge but now I must admit that I'm at a loss for American composers whose last names begin with *N*.

Cheers,

Giovanni
