Concertino for Cell Phone and Orchestra?

Well, I guess it was bound to happen.

This probably doesn`t even belong in this forum. However I haven`t heard it, so I`ll be open minded.

The Chicago Symhony Orchestra is opening their season with the premiere of David Baker`s 'Concertino for Cell Phone and Orchestra.' People are encouraged to bring their cell phones in order to participate. One can read about it here-

I wonder how it went over...

Hi Rojo :tiphat:You must admit there are some interesting ring tones about, I get lots of interesting comments about my own, I use 'Nessun Dorma' most people seem to like it. I think I will start a new thread (what ring tone do you use) that could be interesting.

So is this something like Ligeti's Poeme Symphonique for 100 metronomes?

On the other topic, my cell phone ringtone is the William Tell Overture, previously I had downloaded Liszt's Hungarian Rhapsody #2, but I lost that phone and thus the ringtone!

I think the cell phone piece is modern classical music, so why wouldn't it belong in this forum? Anyway, there's a piece written for slot machines and orchestra. It's called "Fantasy Concerto for Four Prepared Slot Machines and Orchestra on Leroy Anderson" by Barry Jekowsky. Reno Philharmonic - This unique instrumental has 'reel' appeal

Unfortunatly, the night of the premiere the orchestra was performing outside and the concert got rained out. I don't know when it will be performed now.

Are you in some way connected to either of those works, OboeAby? If so, can you keep us posted on any further developments?

Thanks for getting back to us on that, OboeAby; that is unusual, to say the least! :p:grin:

Haven`t checked around, but I wonder what ever happened with the cell phone piece...

Btw ParryHotter, love Liszt`s Hung. Rhaps. No2, even Victor Borge`s version!
