    Learning organ

Now, I know there are alot of you organists out there, I just wanted to tell you of the new instrument that I am playing. I find it like a mini orchestra (no wonder why Bach and earlier composers were such great orchestral composers too).

Thats all, any suggestions or comments?

    Gareth.

    Gareth,

Sounds interesting ... how many keyboards or 'stops' does it have? Is there a brand name on this instrument?

I think the organ that the church has that I was playing on started with a w... All the things stops are in german so perhaps I should learn German as well!

Check out this link my music teacher sent to me.

The Organ Society of Sydney go to Sydney organs – and scroll down to Sydney Town Hall.

Lovely pictures. This one has a 64' stop.

    Gareth,

Could this be a WERSI instrument? My organ teacher had a 3 manual electronic organ that I think could have been a Wersi; I do know it started with the letter 'w'. That was back in 196 ... well, let's just say it was lots of years ago I do know that it was not a winded (pipe) instrument, and the stop names were German.

Organ stop names can be in a good many languages, but the most common are German, Italian and French. There is a wonderful encyclopedia of organ stops for reference: Encyclopedia of Organ Stops Some have sound clips.
