Poor man's Stockhausen ?

An attempt to ' morph ' a descending chromatic scale into an ascending one. There are 3 tempos going on which beat towards the middle giving the whirling effect. Sort of like when the wind changes direction. It was written by algorhythm. I.E. by an equation rather note by note. This makes for very compact notation (though a computer (and the right software)) is needed for playback. Slightly modifying any of the inputs (or even altering the 'seed number' of the random number generator) causes large variations in the final output. Sort of related (loosely) to 'fractal' music.

ok... interesting... are you making the software you use yourself? or is it some "generic" software which one can modify to ones own needs?

I used Zel for this piece. I've done some work using Basic, but it is awkward though more versatile. (Zel has a 'context' of it's own which takes some learning while Basic is more like English (there may be a Danish version?)) However with Basic it is more difficult to access the soundcard while Zel outputs a standard Midi file. You might try the free demo of Zel just for fun.
There is another one that looks good called KeyKit, but so far I've only been able to get a 'Single Note Samba' out of it.....

ok... interesting... I'm changing my minor subject from math to computer science - and progams such as this could be a nice cross subject study between music and computer science...

With that type curriculum you might want to get into one of the more advanced programs (see link) ........
