How's Your Weather?

It's warmish - 25C after a top of 28 - and a bit muggy at around 70 per cent humidity. The latter, no doubt, caused by it raining all of Monday night and most of yesterday.

Here we go again?

A full 24 Cm of snow yesterday. At least it looks like the sub-zero weather might finally be coming to an end. It's -11C this morning (about 6:30am) but going up to a forcast -6.

The annual risk of flooding in some areas around the island due to ice dams - but so far the ice breakers seem to be working. All in all not bad, around here. It was this storm that caused a lot of misery across the central states over the last week.

Disaster State

Kentucky has been clobbered by an ice storm. Wide spread power outages- the works. I hope we hear from Judy T. soon.:(

Gosh, I hope Judy is OK. Haven't seen a post from her in a little while.

Here, in the land down under, it's warm and sticky at 25C at 7.00 in the evening and around 70 per cent humidity. Could be worse from a humidity perspective as there's a nor-easter gusting up to 55kph taking some of the sweat away.

We actually had all of one inch of snow here in the sunny south, the sun is now out and I doubt there will be much left by lunch time.

I live on a cross roads one of the roads goes downhill from here, the other three go uphill; the locals so rarely see any snow it was most amusing watching the antics, there was only one smash, but loads of near misses, what so many of them didn't seem to realise is that it is not easy to stop from 20 -30 MPH on a 12 - 16% slope. Similarly it is not as easy to get up such a slope as one less steep, they don't use the less steep one as it is not a direct route out to the main road, they have to negotiate an extra junction DUH!

One thing a light fall like this shows is how efficient the loft insulation can be, good insulation = snow on roof, poor insulation snow melts quickly so the roof is clear.

It is supposed to be 1C, but it feels much colder. We had a good snow storm earlier on, and a few flakes are coming down now, it seems to be settling.

Look forward to hearing from Judy that she is ok.

Well guys I guess you can say I'm back. Kentucky has been hit by a
really bad ice storm which took care of the net and electricity for a
week. I just got back on. Right now it's snowing at 17 degrees.
You should see this place. Every tree has either been broken down
or destroyed. There are still people without power here.

Gosh Judy, I'm glad you're OK. What a frightening experience. Roll on springtime in your part of the world.

Cheers and try to stay warm.

Vicki, I found out on the weather channel that you guys in Australia were
having quite a heatwave. It would be nice if Australia could bottle it up
and send it where it's so cold here! Enough to warm this place up to about
at least 50 degrees here for a while. The temps did rise two degrees to
about 19 degrees and now it will be falling. The wind chill is down to 0
or less. Here's a video of what has happened.YouTube - KY Winter Ice Storm

Cold -2C, still have some snow, but we had a little sunshine in the morning, so it has melted a little.
