How's Your Weather?

Clear and cool.

48F this morning - high today was not quite 70. According to our local weatherman the temp 100 miles north of us, (or perhaps slightly less) - was below freezing. Tomorrow is supposed to be clear and warmer - but the rest of the week looks like rain.

Still picking tomatos though - and the local raccoons look fat, sassy, and ready for winter. ;-)

(I'm not - ready for winter, that is).

this morning we awoke to the worst dust storm in recorded history for Sydney (and the rest of New South Wales). I thought, as I peered out my apartment's window in disbelief "Christ, the world's coming to an end!" as there was a foul pomegranite red sky. Of course, I soon realised it was red dust from outback New South Wales blown in on a fierce westerly wind.

Geez, is that godzilla looming in the background?

That storm must be a scary site for those not used to it. How often to these types of dust storms occur in your region?

Thinking of you all in N.S.W. Heard on our news here this morning in the U.K that you had a terrible dust storm, thanks for the pics. It looks totally horrific. We grumble a lot about our weather but we've seen nothing like that here. It is bound to affect weather patterns all over the world, like when Mt. Washington erupted. Thinking of my friends and relations in the region. Sylvie

Wow CT, that looks awful. As Sylvie says we have nothing like that here in the Uk. I also have relations in Sydney, so I think of everyone there.

Here it has been a dull day, no blue sky or sunshine. It rained in the night, but it certainly looks like Autumn with the leaves underfoot.

Right now a big Low sits on top of our region. It's rained everyday since
I told of the weather here. I think Australia could use some of our rain.
It's got where we don't need anymore. Things are beginning to flood,
the atmosphere here feels like a steamy bathroom after someone's took
a hot shower, day light is but a memory. I wished this rain would go
somewhere else! It's fall here for one thing and it seems like right after
Labor Day the weather here goes down hill from there.

Rain Rain go away! I mean it's coming down good! The temps are
at 75 degrees. I feel like I live in a rain forest with the humidity.

I'll take some of that rain ...

Actually, the weather of late is typical for September/October - mid 90's with some light breezes during the day.

Currently at 3:15pm, 89°F - Sunny.

And here's a photo of the "coathanger" (as Aussies call the Sydney Harbour Bridge) as seen through Sydney's horrific red dust storm.

How Horrid!

Even though the pics floating around the web these days of your neck of the woods are eerily beautiful...if you like being on Mars...I hope all is well. Is it starting to subside yet? I feel for you and everyone else there. And the poor little critters outside. And here we are having the most fab weather... I almost hate to say that. (but this weather is great)

Right now we are under a severe thunderstorm watch. Here we
go again with more rain! Even though I see sunshine outside.

That sunshine you see Judy is coming from the southwest desert. We have so much to spare that the meteorologists gave you some of ours.

We're headed back into the low 100's <again - still> Yeesh ... Hopefully we will get some frost on the pumpkin ... or at least 72° by then ...
