January Thaw?

Not unusual for Montreal though. We came out of the deep freeze yesterday. The temp is still sitting above the freezing point. (About +2C). Still lots of snow on the ground though.

ATB! ;)

These past few nights have been dreadfully cold. We just had a yard sale and the night before we had to get everything out, and it was sooooooo cold 15F. Today it was overcast and a striking 35 degrees throughout the day until...
YAY THE SUN IS OUT. That really warmed things up! :)

-6c this morning - with freezing drizzle making for some very slippery roads. Temp heading back up to the freezing point later. There is still a good cover of snow on the ground though.

It has just gone down from 8C to 7C, have had some sunshine. The forecasters predict more bad weather though.

The temp is actually rising tonight. 10:30pm and I'm now reading -2.4c. I'm hearing reports of freezing rain in places. One fat and sassy raccoon came and kocked on my door earlier in the evening. Naturally I had something for him (or her) to eat.

We are in the midst of the most glorious summer weather at present, 25 celcius, with a chilly breeze from the coast with glorious blue skies ... here are some photos to show you I took today.

Right now it's so foggy it reminds me of London.

Having actually experienced real London fog back in the early 1950s, believe me it is something I never wish to see again.

Visibility was a very few feet, at times a bus driver would be unable to see the kerb from his cab and needed somebody walking along beside the bus. At night a street lamp on the opposite side of the road was a barely visible diffused glow. Nowadays in a bad fog visibility would probably be about 10 yards.

What made it so bad was that almost every home had at least 1 coal fire, water heating in the home was also usually coal fired, much of industry also used coal firing, electricity generation was by coal fired power stations, domestic gas for cooking etc was derived from coal, all the smoke from these coal fires would be trapped in the fog, making it far worse than just ordinary fog.

In a word, frightening.

I experienced the same thing in the Midlands and at about the same time, I remember having taken a wrong turn on my way home from work totally lost on a route that I knew well, had to leave my old banger and walk the rest of the way, aha those were the days ;)

Right now it's raining buckets at 50 degrees and very windy.judy tooley

Ditto here, except the temp is just over 60° F. Arizona is getting the leftovers of the huge storm that hit So California recently. The dark clouds here have completely envelopes the mountain range that's 10 miles from our house.

For 3 days it has snowed. After a little more than 12 inches we now have about 24 inches on the ground, actually covering everything. It is so beautiful! A wonderful deep blue sky today highlighted by bright yellow sun diffused by passing heavy with snow clouds! The temp. is about 23 farenheit with a light breeze. BEAUTIFUL BEAUTIFUL! I love winter so much!!!!
