The SW desert, where I live, is under a Severe Heat Advisory today ... temperatures will be so hot that the body can no longer cool itself, which then results in Heat Stroke and/or death for some people.

This usually means that Soccer games and other sports activities will be cancelled here today - virtually all outdoor activities cease and most everyone stays indoors.

WOW Master Krummhorn - Sounds like the type of heat that if one travels in a car and rolls down the window the airstream wil not have a cooling effect - something akin to pointing a hair-dryer at one's hand aka wind-burn. Be careful dear sir.

Currently overcast and 70 % humidity - 75 degrees w/ scattered downpours and 17 mph variables.

So far Kentucky has had a mild summer on the third day of it. Knock
on wood. It was in the hundreds this time last year with no air
conditioner. I cooked until mid September.

Yesterday June 23 the Danes celebrated Sankt Hans, which means according to old traditions from the Dark Ages most of the Danes would build, what is shown on the picture, though the heavy winds and the rain across the entire country yesterday took some of the ordinary cosyness away:

The tradition about this fire once a year is the story about witches, who would fly in the air on a broom, who on this particular night June 23 would be more active and would have more magical powers than ordinary, so building a fire due to the history of Denmark in the Dark Ages, would scare any evil minded witch away from the local city all over Denmark. It was spoken by the people on this night that all the witches would meet at Troms Kirke (The Church of Troms) or Bloksbjerg in Harzen (Bloksbjerg a mountain in Harzen, Germany) to make plans for the next year, and for them not to rest on the ground the fires on the ground was a warning.

I went to a huge fire east of Aalborg with my children and my ex wives, where a politician gave the speech of the fire and we all sang some traditional Danish songs for this occation. Quite cosy even if we brought the custom umbrellas.

For a real cosy Sankt Hans evening the weather has to be dry, no winds and warm enough for T-shirts and shorts.

Today however sunny, windy and the blue sky, only a few cumulus clouds to the south, but not warm.

Here in the SW of France we have had really nice summer weather for the past several days. Typically Temp of 30C plus with sunshine and light winds. However today Temp still in the high 20C's but a threat of thunderstorm's. Just for the day?
