How's Your Weather?

It's a skating rink outside. Today was nice and clear - and cold. About -8C - but thats not bad if you can dress for it. The icy sidewalks are the scary part. Stephen - your photos make it quite clear. The rain and wind the other night cleared off a lot of the snow - but when the freeze returned we were left with very nasty conditions for walking. (Ice scares me more than snow or cold). Ah well - thats Canada. (Big smile). Judy - not sure of those other places. I'm allergic to huricanes and tornados. Still - I no longer like winter. It's a age thing I guess. :) Hang in there folks.

The ice is the bad part. My hubby had to have a test done at the hospital the other day and by the time he left in the morning (after his test) he said that the ER was full of people who had broken bones from falling on the ice.

The rain did a good job of washing away most of the snow, but then it turned cold again, from 40F to 20F and started snowing last night (another 6 inches) and the sidewalks are ice covered with packed snow. Even with the sidewalks being cleared by the plows, (those little ones are so cute) it is best to tread carefully and go at it slowly. But, I still love it.

I have to go to Florida next month for my Dad's memorial and don't really relish the idea of going back to 80F, even for a week...especially not to Florida. I wouldn't mind going to Cuba if I had to visit someplace warm. At least I could see some 50s architecture that I have never seen before.

Right now it's cold, cloudy and depressing right now. I haven't seen
any sunshine for a while. It's supposed to rain tomorrow.

Brrrrrrrrr!

Yesterday was nice. Clear sky, about -4C high. Quite comfortable. But overnight things went downhill - so to speak. I woke up to -18C, overcast - and a forecast for high winds and a windchill of about -21.... Oh well - thats a normal (?) Canadian winter.

Toronto and points south are getting hit with a major winter storm. Long range forecast says we may get one Sunday. Ahhh - it will be a white Christmas to be sure.

:)

Muza - there is a story that Mark Twain said that the coldest winter he ever spent was a summer in San Francisco. Guess it's OK for people who can afford to live there.

I live a bit to the south - Santa Maria, in what is usually called the central coast. Lately, even my cat prefers to stay indoors most of the time. It's been down to around 34 a couple of mornings lately. For me, that's cold, but I've never lived in North Dakota.

While I am jealous about that fact that we don't get snow, it's been a lovely day here. Sunny and, at just after five in the afternoon, it's a very pleasant 21C. According to the forecast it will be a top of 24 on Christmas day, which means I'll be able to eat heaps for lunch! :smirk::smirk::smirk: Sometimes it's just too hot.

Winter Arrives

Winter arrived here in Montreal at 07:04 EST, I was advised by the radio announcer. Hm, with an outside temp of -16C and very windy - grin, do tell. :D
Then our friendly weather lady states a major winter storm is due this morning. Just looked out the window and the snow is starting to fall.

However I keep one thing in mind - the daylight hours will be increasing from now on...:) Merry Christmas and Season's Greetings to all.

Yep, it's 4°C (that's ~ 39°F - in case you didn't know:p), SW @ 4km/h and the forecast people are saying, with the eternal smile on their faces, that it's gonna be raining. One should expect snow instead of rain in the middle of December but what can you do, right?
