Just saying hullo for the first time

I'm a passionate devotee of the organ (from the huge monsters such as the one in my home city, Sydney ... right down the "blasphemy boxes" or electronic "faux" pipe organs). I play to a limited extent and can fuddle my way through a couple of Bach's Prelude and Fugues. I also am very passionate about organ building and wish that's what I did for a profession. However in Australia there are only a few around and its almost impossible to work for them. I've also had the pleasure of helping with the tuning of a beautiful tracker action organ in Mudgee (4 hours due west of Sydney) and even was allowed to venture inside to see its workings. So, really just saying hi to one and all.

Hi Contratrombone64

Glad to have you aboard MIMF. We've all 'fuddled' our way through Bach at one time or another, so we understand your plight. Hope your stay with is is always enjoyable.

Thanks Lars, nice to meet you ... too. I've just downloaded to my iPod the "complete organ works of Bach" (don't start me on that) played by the wonderful Hans Fagius, of Sweden; from the "Bach Edition" which is a monster set of 155 CDs (it'll take me the rest of the year to listen to it all). I must say, I now own three "complete organ works of Bach" CD sets and they all have organ music missing or at least, some have this and some have that. It's a real puzzle for me.

I love Helmut Walcha's playing, it is so deeply insightful. But I also love the Amercian George Ritchie's version played on beautiful organs from your neck of the woods, as he is also deeply thoughtful AND uses beautifully voiced organs with (horror horror) the use of 32' stops.

Welcome to Magle International Music Forums, Contratrombone64'! :tiphat:

Glad to have you aboard! No secret which "Huge monster" you're user name comes from :) (I'd love to hear and play that monster live one day, only heard it on CD but that of course can't do it justice I'm sure). I hope you will have a great time here!

Best regards,
Frederik

Frederik ... if you ever get to visit Australien, I'd love to show you around my hometown (and organise a session on the monster).
