Hello there Jeffrey thank you for an outstanding review.
Youre getting the right feeling with the word "sultry", I'm trying my best to bring the old smoky jazz bar feeling with these songs. Seems like its working well :)
Im doing a theme album based on Smokey's place and the world around it so theres going to be plenty of stories and smoky jazz coming up
After being noticed by another reviewer too I decided to add some reverb to Malone's singing parts and it does sound better now, not so "away" from the rest of the band.
I can't update it here since it seems there a limit to attachements but if you want to hear the updated version I'd suggest you try out www.soundclick.com/mobi .

Thanks for listening,
Mobi

Hi Mobi,

Listened to your newest contribution, Malone. Although I liked the voice, I too thought it might better for it to be closer to being spoken as opposed to being sung. However, the warm and humid atmosphere of being in a dimmly lit room is well conveyed by the music tone and effect. My vision of the effect is similar to Jeff's, except I'll add a vocalist wandering about the place while doing the lyrics.

One thought came to mind is perhaps Malone needs to be lengthened a bit, maybe a modulation a whole step upwards to repeat the last third of the song. The key change could be simply accomplished by a simple percussion cadence like thum-whaka-pause- clikety clickety clickety click-a boom-boom-whak-cymbal ... ... well, it's kinda difficult to convey into words the particular sound that I'm hearing in my brain right now. Not being a percussionist I lack the proper expertise to transmit my ideas into written words

Regarding the limitation to attachments here, you have used about 9.46Mb of your allocated 10.0Mb. Just so you know, once have made 50 posts, that limit will also increase to 25Mb. Here the link for posting incentives that gives the whole breakdown. But hey, soundclick works great - nice way to post your songs, too.

All the best ...

Hello there Krummhorn and thanks again.
Im taking your suggestions into consideration and maybe give them a try, I have never done anything what youre suggesting but Ill see what I can do and keep you posted :) And I must say that percussion talk got me confused but I think got the idea

While waiting I just got a new song/story ready, this time we got the band in spotlight, go listen and see what kind of ideas you get :)
As I havent yet made 50 posts youll have to go to my soundclick page,

Hello people!
At last I got something new done and I'm here again to get your honest opinions about it. I'm still working on the smooth jazz theme album full of stories about Con City and it's inhabitants, 5 songs ready. So if you got time and intrest, listen to it and see if you like it.
It's called The fall of the Don's.

Thanks,
Mobi

Nice and relaxing. It reminds me of some of the music I grew up with
during the sixties and seventies during some of the folk music years.
I'm trying to think of who you sound like. You remind me of James Tayler
or Spooky Tooth. Don't laugh this used to be a real rock group in the 1960s.
I miss those days. Now that I'm 47 and the pop music is much more
complicated. This kind of music is so simple and smooth like a good glass
of iced tea and sitting by a pool before I go to swim. I don't swim now
because of the way I look now. I'm no longer a skinny 26 year old. I've
gained weight since then. A rotten marrage can do it to you and inlaw
trouble. Going on a diet is like giving up cigarettes! Everybody knows
when you are on a diet and will offer you anything from fried chicken
to chocolate pie with all the whipped cream on top! People know when
you are giving up cigarettes. There will always be someone who will
offer you a smoke. Temptation can be like a fishing worm dancing in
front of a fish. The fish sees the worm but not the hook until he takes
a bite and gets taken.
judy tooley:grin:

Mobi,

Sorry for the long delay in responding to these latest contributions of yours. I had some browser problems relating to mp3 files - since resolved as I am now using Mozilla Firefox for my browser instead of IE 7 or Nutscape (mis-spelling intentional - )

Great music - enjoyed your latest creations alot. It's always so nice to actually understand the lyrics, a wonderful attribute of your songs. The instrumental parts are outstanding too - nice work ... and thanks for sharing with this community.

Hello everyone again. It's been a long time since I visited here and I should start coming here more often again. I wanted to thank you all for listening to my songs and telling me what you think of them, its always nice to hear that people like the stuff I do. I havent made any songs in a while because of lack of inspiration at the moment but I think I'll start working on this Con City album again soon, so keep an eye out for new stuff in near future. I also wanted to come and tell you that for the first time in my life I got some real radio play here at Finland!! I got selected into thi demo contest last week and I couldnt be more happy about it, it was my goal years ago and now that I made it it's time to try and send some demos to record companies too. That's about all I got to say for now but I'll be posting my new songs here, hopefully soon.
Thanks for everyone paying attention to this thread, it means the world to me.

Hi Mobi, Great to see you back here again.

Hey, the inspiration will come ... give it time - sometimes we all need a little break from all these thoughts wandering in and out of our brains.

Congrats on getting the air time in Finland!! Looking forward to your next music postings.

Hello people of MIMF! After almost 1 year break from Con City project, and from here , I finally have all the 6 songs ready for it. Party Party  I feel so good now that I know I've completed this projects first actual album  I have been doing some music meanwhile also, mostly experimental finnish rap with a friend and also a few heavy metal songs of my own kind
I have also done cover art done for my record, with some assistance from my brother, and I'm going to make about 20 cd's and see if I can sell them to anyone :D Of course I have the 6th track for you and it's called Con city like the record and it is the last track on album. It gives you a little hint what Con City might look like and what would it be like to live in this city of turmoil, rest is up to your imagination. I hope you enjoy it and give somekind of feedback so I know you accept this track for the record ;)
I can also upload the cover art for the record so you can see how it turned out and maybe some of those heavy songs if someone wants to see/hear them. I don't know whats the next style I'm going for but I'll definitely keep you guys well updated. I want to thank everyone who has supported me and given me feedback in this forum, especially Krummhorn and Jeffrey Hall, you have been a big help.

Hello Magleans!

Long time no see nor heard but here I am, back with new track!

A lot has happened in between my visits.
I have a family now and I have two little girls, girlfriend, dog and a ferret to take care of so don't have that much time to make music anymore.
Somehow I've managed to squeeze something out and hopefully you will give me great feedback like you always did when I was more active.
This song continues the journey through Con City that started back at ´08 with some of you giving me very important and much needed advice about mixing and structures of songs.
The theme hasn't changed but the style has evolved into something a bit more electric, so smooth jazz with electric twist? ;)
You can also listen it from www.soundcloud.com/moobius if you want, theres some instrumental hip hop thingies also but I don't expect you to
Also I've learned a lot while this long break so I think my tracks sound way better than they used to, I hope you hear the same.
I want to thank everyone who've helped me earlier and in advance those who have time to help me now with feedback or maybe just with a listen, everythings accepted!
I will hopefully release more tracks in near weeks/months because I feel I've found that something something again and can't wait to make more music!!!

Thanks, Hello and be seeing you all!!!
