Hi all,

My name is Rolf, and I live in the Netherlands.
I just wrote a piece in the "newcomer" selection...

Just got this mailed at my work, I was Berlioz:

http://quizfarm.com/test.php?q_id=128636

Berlioz 95%
"You're OCD. You may think you want something...
but think again before you move land and sea to get it.
However, you are very talented."

Try it yourself, I'm curious what comes out of it...

Hello  otterhouse !

Welcome to MIMF ... Here's hoping your time with us in these forums will always be enjoyable .

Interesting quiz ... I scored as a Haydn
You will go far by staying close by instead of using your energy to climb the ladder of success. You are content to live in a small but dignified world, and you thrive in it.

Haydn ------- 95%
Chopin ------- 80%
JS Bach ----- 80%
Brahms ------ 75%
Schumann --- 65%
Handel ------ 65%
Beethoven --- 55%
Berlioz ------- 55%

You scored as Händel.

It's hard to say where you got your talent--certainly not from your parents! But with grudging support from your parents and sporadic support from people in higher places, you have room to do things in your style. When you're low, keep being your hardworking self. Big breaks don't just happen!

Handel 70%

Beethoven 65%

Tchaikovsky 65%

J.S. Bach 60%

Schubert 55%

Haydn 55%

Hector Berlioz 55%

Liszt 55%

Wagner 50%

Mozart 50%

Brahms 40%

Schumann 35%

Chopin 20%

Too very true. My parents didn't do a thing to encourage me--quite the opposite.

Given that Händel's own style including threatening a soprano with defenestration...well, I just hope my own experiences in the opera world don't go so badly.

I am very humbled...

Krummhorn,

I am very humbled by your acknowledgement. I wonder what Sir Frederik Magle would score and hopefully he would share with the forum or by personal message. At the risk of sounding redundant, my favorite composers are Bach, Brahms, Bruckner, Mozart, Rachmaninoff, Shostakovich, Sviridov, Tchaikovsky, and Tournemire.

If a poll were to be constructed using those composers as discriminants, I honestly don't think I would score as a Bach.

Regards!

My First posting too...

Turns out I would have been J.S. Bach, quiet intelligent type apparently. Dilligent, hard-working and possibly not that much fun to be around (although I hope not!)

Great quiz by the way! well found. I once did one specific to Russian Composers. Qs involved much vodka don't remember how I faired now but was a great source of mirth inthe office at the time!

For some reason I can't get the reults to cut and paste properly though!

Hi Colleen,

Bach was quite the entertainer and rare was the occasion that the doors to his house were shut. A good Lutheran in those days understood that the way to people's hearts was through the stomach - oh yes, the beer did flow quite copiously. Some might commiserate that Bach's wife spent too much time in the kitchen - yes, she was there a bit but they also had *household help* so she also was to be found at the table with her hubby and any guest/guests.

Regards!

Giovanni :tiphat: :tiphat: :tiphat:

BTW - Welcome to MIMF - I wish your stay here a pleasant one.

hm. Berlioz. @ 75% no less.

I don't know how I feel about that - I guess I was hoping for a more dramatic composer...or one I liked more.:p

You scored as Hector Berlioz.

ok, now I'm happier - Mahler on the dead Germans poll:

Gustav Mahler definitely lived by the statement, "Music is life. The rest is just details." Mahler was a composer in the summer and a conductor during the main orchestra season, and he was so obsessed with musical perfection that he earned a reputation as a harsh and terrifying tyrant. In fact, he was a tiny little fellow who tied so much of his vulnerable inner self to his music that he felt completely compelled to draw the best performance out of his players. He was so very attached, in fact, that he feared that elements of his own musicÑ-such as three hammer blows in the 6th Symphony, or the concept of sure death after writing a 9th--would kill him. He tried to steer around these things through editing and creative numbering, but that gesture only further proves how close Mahler was to his own music.
A few key works: Kindertotenleider, Das Lied von der Erde, Symphony No. 6, Symphony No. 9

And Tachaikovsky on the dead Russians game
You are Pyotr Chaikovsky.
I AM the Real Chaikovsky! Considered by most Westerners to be the greatest Russian composer of all, most late 19th Century Russians think you're actually too Westernized in your musical tendencies. Despite this criticism, as well as the flak you had to take for your preference of Y-chromosomes, your ballets "The Nutcracker" and "Swan Lake" are upheld as among the greatest and most popular pieces of all time.

At last ... <sigh> ... JS Bach on the dead Germans poll

Rimsky-Korsakov on the dead Russians poll. Scheherazade stuff works for me, too

I'm Arnold Schoenberg on the Dead Germans poll, but I'm Rachmaninoff on the Dead Russians poll. I think I'm having an identity crisis.

But I did get Schoenberg! w00t! ;)

Man oh man - I LOVE THESE QUIZZES :D  :trp:  :tiphat:

On the dead German composers quiz I again scored as Bach.

On the dead Russian composers I scored as Rachmaninoff.

Both are my favorite composers. I guess if one *internalises* their works and the biographies of their lives, one *adopts* a part of their being.

Yes indeedy, again I will sleep alright tonight
