I hope you did not lose all the sweets Colin. I can see why you said that it was a serious accident

ARGHHHHH. Just discovered that my favourite cottage in the SoF is full booked for the Summer. It was only the thought of it that was getting me through this miserable, cold, wet Winter. Suddenly suicide seems like a viable option.

Just had another nervous breakdown and booked a little cottage in the S of F. Just us and a ten metre saltwater heated swimming pool. I will definitely come back wrinkly.

The view from the terrace. My idea of heaven

There are various buildings dotted around Colin some left over from the small farmers era. Nothing too close. The main industry around there is the growing of grapes.

Just booked the return ferry crossing with P and O for a week in July. £56.00. Unbelievably cheap. Thirty years ago we considered £80.00 a bargain. I suppose the recession is pushing prices down. And of course since the EU decided that France was not far enough away to warrant us having a duty free allowance all the people who used to go over for cheap cigs and booze no longer bother.

That looks lovely Teddy, we have booked another boat for The Norfolk Broads in July. I just hope we get some decent weather.

Being a boatie type person I envy you. But my youngest and I need the sun. Blazing hot sun. The sort of heat that reflects back from the walls and stones in the evening and forces you into the pool. The sort of heat that FORCES you to drink the local wine and eat very little.
Thats my excuse

God willing, in exactly seven days from now I will be in the SoF. Predicted temperature for next Saturday is 94 f. I can't wait. It is a lovely day here, but hardly blazing hot, more like Autumn.

At the end of August, we are traveling to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. The North Rim is quite different from the South Rim (the tourist trap) and is higher in elevation and has many pine trees and cooler weather. The North Rim is only open from May to October, whereas the South Rim is open year round.

We've reserved a cabin for the duration of our stay ... one must reserve at least a year in advance of their stay to assure lodging.

Looking forward to getting out of this heat ... 110° yesterday with more of the same forecast for the weekend.

Sound like a lovely location Lars. I believe there is a glass walkway over the Grand Canyon. Wouldn't get me on it but must be a thrilling experience for those with a head for heights

Our biggest trip this year will be to friends near Prince Albert National Park in Saskatchewan, Canada for the September long weekend. It should be fun - it's one park we have never visited.

I would love to visit Canada, especially in the Autumn. My Uncle lived in Calgary for about forty years, but I never made it out there. One day......................

24 hours from now I will be sitting at the dock (of the bay) waiting to board a ferry and drive six hundred a fifty miles. I hope they have plenty of coffoe on board. There is meant to be a heat wave here next week. I believe this is called sods law.

I've read about that and seen pictures ... there is absolutely no way I would go on that either. Anyway, it's accessible from the South rim only.

Looks exciting Mike. But too energetic. And I did not notice anyone drinking red wine.

See you all in a week.
