Come on guys! Let's help Progger out. He should be an Admiral by now
if he would stick with us. I know we can help him out. You helped me
out a few times.

I joined this forum not a long time ago, and I find it full of friendship and support, I don't understand why you find it dead? because of some threads without any reply? it happens.. just ask for some help, support, ideas or comments and you'll see how some of MIMF members will be there for you. Anyway, hope you enjoy the forum..

Well, alexiakl, this thread dates back to June 2007, and it was not really much up here that time - maybe due to summer vacations most of active members had in that moment, you know...That is, if you have an average number of 50-100 new posts per day here presently, it was not respectfully more than 20-30 last summer.

So, that's why. Then, there are pretty much of other forums in Internet, dedicated ONLY to general rock / prog rock, with literally thousands of participants there. Being compared to such, MMIF is a really calm harbour...;)

That's very true, Andrew ...

I came on board at the end of the summer in 2006 ... things were quite slow, but have steadily picked up since.

For example, during July 2007, there were only 611 new postings.
Just since February, this year, that number has jumped to 5,000 new postings.

The more postings, the more visibility this forum gets with the search "spiders" of google and others. If one googles "International Music Forum", MIMF is #1 in the search out of about 940 such forums listed.

The influx of new members has also taken been on the rise. In July of 2007, about 156 new members registered for membership ... since February this year that number has jumped to 417.

Now, not every single new member posts ... there are a goodly number of "Skulkers" (the first official rank for one who has zero posts) who only observe and enjoy reading the discussions and for whatever reasons, they wish to not contribute, and that's fine. Some who join are spammers ... y`all know what happens with those ... asta-la-vista, baby -. Caught one in the act tonight ... poor chap never knew what hit him .

Calm harbour? I agree wholeheartedly ... this place is so very refreshing in its own unique special way ... it is a special place with lots of special people ... yup, it's the people here that make this forum what it is ... ... well, I gotta give Frederik Magle the most credit for its creation and for being the charming host that he is :tiphat:.
