Songwriting Competitions
Hi everyone,
First time poster, and I found this site while poking about for musician resources. I know it's more for discussion, but I figured I'd jump right in with a topic I've been debating in my head for a while. I'm thinking about submitting some of my stuff to the various songwriting competitions - the 2007 International Songwriting Competition in particular. It definitely has a better roster of judges than the other ones out there and looks like it has the best prize package, too. Does anyone have any feedback on this, and whether or not it's a good way to get your music out there? I go back and forth on it in my head, but in the end I figure it's a gamble, sure, but if my stuff's good enough then why shouldn't it get noticed, right?

I cant see how it would hurt...i mean even if nothing positive comes out of it....nothing negative will either and 'if you dont ask you dont get'. I think if yo've got some song ideas theres no sense at al in wasting them. I suppose anything like this can be nerve wrecking, but if you get some positive response it'll be a great confidence boost!
Best of luck,
let us kknow how it goes!!

Hi Songbird,
I entered two of my songs into the Australian International Songwriting comp', no luck though! I think you should go for it and enter as many competitions as you can, you never know!
Good Luck
Cheers
