I saw footage of them in Brasil I think, and the lead singer had a zip line set up to soar down during the instrumental parts. I thought that was hilarious!

Bringing this thread back to life:
My personal favourite hard rock/heavy singers from the 80'ties are Rob Halford (Judas Priest) and David Coverdale (Whitesnake)

Someone help me with the name of that girl from Quarterflash. I thought she was just a truly gifted singer. Madonna was great too. Both girls were pretty dynamic vocalist.

last night I was watching Iron Maiden's live after death dvd and it was amazing, very funny and full of energy, that Bruce Dickinson is an amazing singer, no doubt![/quote
Yeah, that's why "Number of..." is one of my personal favorites from them in that it was the first album with Bruce on it. There's another long-time metal debate classic, "Which Maiden album's better, Number of The Beast or Peace Of Mind?" Someone should start that. Anyhoo, Maiden would'nt have gone near as far with Paul Diano.

Personal favourites of that decade are Bruce Dickinson (Iron Maiden), Ronnie James Dio (Black Sabbath), Rob Halford(Judas Priest). Can't really pick a best though, cos every voice is it's own.

I agree with you about Bruce Dickinson, the way he sings "Run To The Hills", "Dance Of Death" & "Holy Smoke" is jus awsome, my favorite Maiden's Songs XD. Also I would like to add one, a lady that have being singing the blues since the 60's 'till today, and her name is Etta James XD

Are you guy's guitar players? I have no idea why, Just got that vibe? Do you guys think that during that era, it ever got any better (genre-wise, of course) than Adrian Smith and Dave Murray-and the team they formed with one another?

They just shared solo's so incredibly well. The thing I like most about those two, is that neither was rilly a marquee guitar player, but sounded like such when sharing like they so beautifully did.

Steve Harris is a gem asset to that band too. Most all the lyrical genius, he contributed for cryin' out loud. Yeah, I rilly shouldn't get started on Maiden either, I suppose?

hehe, actually, I play the bass, but I really apreciate really much Maiden's guitar solos XD, and of course, Steve Harris is one of the best bass players I've ever heard, so, you can imagine how much I like Maiden =P

i can't think of anyone in particular right now, but yeah bruce dickinson was awesome. i love the classic "hallowed be thy name" on live after death, especially the first part, with the loonnnnng sustain. by the way, martin birch did an incredible job on this recording.

Best Voice of the 80s

Yes, I agree, Freddy and George Michael are definitely one of the best voices of the 80s. What about A-ha who sang "Take on Me"? With female volcalists,
I agree, Alison Moyet of the Yazoo and Annie Lenoxx have great voices!:)

Steve Perry of Journey (if y'all want to slug me, you better soon). But I adore David Bowie, I actually have the Ziggy Stardust album. Mom is reading this over my shoulder and she says Phil Collins.
