White Knight

Spectral Warrior con passion
Via Netflix, Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf ?, with Elizabeth Taylor, George Segal, Sandy Dennis and Richard Burton. Now I don't feel quite so bad about my often rocky and torturous marriage anymore! :nut:

My Boy Jack, starring David Haig and Daniel Radcliffe as--respectively--Rudyard Kipling and his only son Jack. After Jack joins the Army during WW 1 and is killed, the father is left wondering if his sacrifice--and, by extension--those of so many others, is in the final analysis worth the brutal cost. The butcher's bill for maintaining the British Empire would grow steep indeed. A very well-done and thoughtful work from the BBC on Netflix.

Saw this a couple of years ago and was impressed by the acting and general presentation.

On Netflix, Death of a Salesman, starring Charles Durning, John Malkovich, Dustin Hoffman, Kate Reid and Stephen Lang. Searing portrayals by Hoffman of Willie Loman and Malkovich as his son, Biff.

The Iceman Cometh, starring Lee Marvin, Robert Ryan and Jeff Bridges. {Via Netflix}. A little too deep for me, or perhaps it was just a tad too long. I shall have to read the play.

"Melancholia" directed by Lars von Trier - My wife and I had trouble sleeping afterwards...

TWO LANE BLACKTOP starring James Taylor, Brian Wilson ( yes, that Brian Wilson) and Warren Oates. Made in 1971 two young guys travel across America making money by racing others in their souped up Chevy.
Not a commercial success but later became a cult film. I watched this about thirty years ago and then found the complete film on Youtube. Very atmospheric and understated

Teddy, If you like this, have you ever seen Vanishing Point {The original. with Barry Newman?}. I think there is a remake with Val Kilmer, but the original is quite excellent.

Via Netflix, The Savages, starring Philip Seymour Hoffman. Laura Linney and Philip Bosco. A poignant--often humorous look at two adult siblings and their struggles against their father's rapidly developing senility and death, as well as their ambivalent feelings of love and guilt towards both him, and each other. Very well done film.

I certainly have Steve. Had it on tape for years untill the VCR blew up. Saw the new version on YT but did not watch it as I liked the origal too much. Picked up Easy Rider on disc last year along with Taxi Driver (you looking at me?) for £3.00. Another favourite of mine is Cool Hand Luke. So cool.

A Beautiful Mind - with Russel Crowe

Based on the life of John Nash. Worth anyones time.

Truly a great movie, and a wonderful job done by Crowe portraying the brilliant--and somewhat nerdy--Nash. I also liked Ed Harris' turn in this as well.

Bored last night so watched BLADE RUNNER, the original version with the voiceover. Still grips me.

On Netflix, Crazy Love, about a real life NY "love" affair between a crazy and obsessed lawyer and a woman he blinds so no one else will ever want her. The kicker is that she ends up marrying him anyway, after he does prison time for having committed this heinous crime against her.

The Long Good Friday. A classic British gangster film which rates along side Get Carter (the original) Layer Cake and Face
