• Welcome to the Pipe Organ Forum! This is a part of the open community Magle International Music Forums focused on pipe organs (also known as "church organs"), organists, organ music and related topics.

This forum is intended to be a friendly place where technically advanced organists and beginners (or even non-organists) can feel comfortable having discussions and asking questions. We learn by reading and asking questions, and it is hoped that the beginners (or non-organists) will feel free to ask even the simplest questions, and that the more advanced organists will patiently answer these questions. On the other hand, we encourage complex, technical discussions of technique, music, organ-building, etc. The opinions and observations of a diverse group of people from around the world should prove to be interesting and stimulating to all of us.

As pipe organ discussions can sometimes become lively, it should be pointed out that this is an open forum. Statements made here are the opinion of the poster, and not necessarily that of the forum itself, its administrator, or its moderators.

In order to post a new topic - or reply to existing ones - you may join and become a member by clicking on Register New User. It's completely free and only requires a working email address (in order to confirm your registration - it will never be given away!). We strive to make this a friendly and informative forum for anyone interested in pipe organs and organ music.

Hi !

Transigo Platea is a short and very soft music for religious office.
I wrote it a few years ago, but recorded it today with Kloria MyOrgan (open source virtual organ). The organ set I used is "Orgue de Salon", a very small organ with 2 manuals and pedal and only 5 stops.

MP3 without reverb and 4 pages PDF can be downloaded for free at :

I hope you will enjoy.

Hi J.P.
Nice little piece of music, would be interesting if played on a larger organ with more stops,a bit more variation perhaps?I was impressed with the Toccato Negra (CavailleColl) from the same site.I also have a question about Kloria MyOrgan and Hauptwerk,is one better than the other one, or does each one have it's pros and cons?

Hi Jean-Paul,

Nice little work there ... enjoyed it very much - I'll have to try it at church with some contrasting stops.

Hi !
I cannot answer to Caddis's question as I only have MyOrgan.

I think there are few differences between the two softwares as they use the same ODF (organ definition files), so may have the same features.
May be Hautptwerk-1 has some functions that lack to MyOrgan, such as included reverb, but I don't know. May be also, graphism (display) is better on HWK1. Can somebody tell us about these differences ?

For me, the most important difference between one and the other is the price : myOrgan is free, HWK1 is not.

About the registration of Transigo Platea, you can change it as you want. I did it as simple as possible, only to show what can be done with a very small virtual organ, without any additional effect.

Hi Jean-Paul,

I wasn't trying to be critical of your chosen registration for this piece - it's a rather a nice sound overall ... I'm one that likes to experiment around with lots of different stop combinations - sometimes I have to be very creative at church with only 9rks to choose from so that my presentations don't sound all the same.

Dear friend !
I know the problem of small organ, as I was organist in a small church.

About my music, if you have good ideas for registration please play the piece and post it in this topic, I'll be very happy.

Hello Jean Paul, I agree with Kh, very nice piece of work.
Do you mind if I print out the PDF and play it at my local church?
