Having seen Basie, Ellington and Herman live on tour within a few months of each other in the mid/late 70s I would definitely agree, they were far more disciplined and together,

cannon re-loaded - allstar celebration of cannonball adderley -concord this is a fitting tribute to one of the jazz greats by an allstar group led by tom scott. gord :cool:

Woody Herman and The Band That Plays Blues 20 tracks with some good vocals by Woody, interspersed with instrumentals. A good selection of his music.

Cannonball Adderley and Nancy Wilson

Its not that I do not like instrumentals, more that I do like the human voice. So it was nice to hear NW singing alongside the great Cannonball on some of his numbers.

Cannonball is a good saxist and I like his interpretations and the sound he gets, havinging just finished d/l 9-10 of his CDs I have one remanining to be heard "Alabama Concert" with Art Farmer the review was not great but we will see

i have always liked cannonball adderley, a true jazz giant. his album something else on blue note is a jazz classic, and should be in every collection. gord
