That's why I like last.fm, I get a random mix of whatever albums I choose for my library, mainly jazz, baroque classical and big band swing.

Last 5 tracks, Oscar Peterson, Les Elgart band, Buxtehude organ work, New Orleans jazz band, and Count Basie.

Enjoyable. Did not have to concentrate too hard but my usual trouble that after 16 tracks I yearn for some vocals.

I am just the opposite teddy, instrumental for me every time in Jazz.
I'm in agreement with J.H.C.; I prefer instrumental as opposed to vocal jazz every time out. And also like J.H.C., today I listened to some Bach. Then I listened to some of the Miles Smiles cd. Some really great playing and compositions on this album by tenor saxophonist extraordinaire Wayne Shorter such as "ORBITS" and "FOOTPRINTS".:tiphat::clap::clap:

John, how are you? I remember Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass and always enjoyed listening to them. However, would you consider their music to be jazz or some version of Latin tinged lite popular Am radio type style? Just wondering--and wandering. Steve.

frankie laine and the buck clayton allstars-- jazz spectacular-columbia. popular singer laine does a great job on some familier standards, but it is the backing that makes this a first class album. an on form clayton with sir charles, jo jones, urbie, dickie wells, and other stars. if you ever see this album, buy it you wont be sorry. gord

I've been revisiting Wayne Shorter's 2 cd set of Classic Blue Note Recordings and Lee Morgan"s Search for the New Land. Both are awesome albums created by two giants on their respective instruments of tenor sax and trumpet.:tiphat::trp: Although it wouldn't be characterized as "jazz" per se, I also listened to Performance with Mick Jagger and Ry Cooder; once again, simply awesome!:guitar::clap:
