What jazz have you been listening to today?

My Dearest Intet,

In regards to Jean-Luc Ponty - no, I'm not obsessed with his music - just an ardent fan of his music. He in no way replaces my clamouring for the artistry of Keith Jarrett.

When someone says you "slay" them it usually means that they are overwhelmed with laughter ergo, laughing themselves silly and senseless.

You have then really tickled their funnybone.

Cheers,

CD :grin::grin::grin::grin::grin::grin::grin:

Mat buddy

How´s the "bisquit" working these days?:grin: I hope you´re doing good :tiphat::clap::banana::lol::lol: Unfortunately, talking about how old you were, I found myself into a discussion about Abraham from the Old Testamente, more specificly how old a man can be and still "working" without Viagra.

Hello:):),

The biscuit is... Well, it's still on my piano along with Schubert's "Unfinished" score, not used:rolleyes:. I've been quite busy lately, to tell you the truth. But I'm doing ok, thanks:). How about you? Are you prepared for a trip to Copenhagen already? You still have time, though. I was planning to go with my friends to Frankfurt in March to the 'Musikmesse'. But I just can't seem to find free time for this kind of pleasure, damn it:(. I guess I'll have to reschedule for the next year... I really wanna go....

When you say you have Schubert's "Unfinished" score on your piano, you're not by any chance hoping to finish it are you?

Hi Margaret,

No, of course not. It haven't even crossed my mind. I'd say it is one of his 'most finished symphony' (of course in the most positive meaning), as many music historians stated. Even though it has 'only' two movements, both put in sonata form, there is nothing that could be added to make it better than it already is.

Respectfully,
Mat

THAT´S OKAY!!

We both know you´re occupied with work up to your ears right now under a dead-line, so please leave the "bisquit" on the piano for the moment and focus on Schubert´s unfinished.....:D:D

However Mat, please continue to listen to the jazz, we both enjoy so much. Please my most admirered multi instrumentalist check in here from time to time, so we´ll know you´re alive and doing good. Remember spring time is just around the corner ;)

My fingres are hurting for all this time crossed - on your behalf to the continued success in music and life itself.

Intet,

I will always find some time to listen to jazz:grin:, wihtout it my life would be empty. For example, today it was 'European Jazz Trio' and 'Swingle Singers'. I am soon to have some ECM records. It'll be 'Keith Jarrett' (of course:)) and 'Marcin Wasilewski Trio', I guess. And that is only for now:grin:.

I'm addicted to MIMF so don't worry:). Everytime I have access to PC and Internet I log in to catch up with new posts and threads.

I do appreciate it:tiphat::tiphat::tiphat:. But don't hurt your fingers:)! Remember you told me about your drummer ambitions? The more fingers you have the better sound you can get;):).

Best regards,
Mat

Gonzalo Rubalcaba (fender rhodes), Anthony Jackson (el. bass), Mario Parmisano (piano, syntheziser), Gumbi Ortiz (congas, cajone), Alejandro Santos (flutes) and Ernie Adams (drums).

Al Di Meola one of the greatest talents on guitars the jazz world has known of, discovered by Chick Corea in the 1970´s.

"Friday Night In San Francisco" by Di Meola, McLaughlin, and De Lucia.

Corno Dolce

Now you´re talking. Realy an awesome album "Friday Night in San Francisco".

I happend to attend the concert at the Falkoner Center in Copenhagen the year after the release of the album. Di Meola, Mclaughlin and De Lucia were cooking, passing the tone from one of them in the middle of a solo, to the next guy to continue, where the first guy left. AWESOME.

Funny thing is, they often played compositions by the brazilian guitarist and composer Egberto Gismonti.

Three guys from England, the US and Spain with each their acoustic guitar sitting on an ordinary easy chair in a half circle. No comparison to anything else of an acoustic performance, I´ve had the pleasure to attend LIVE.

The album "The Promise", Polydor France 1989 by John McLaughlin is quite another story of this English jazz music composer and equilibrist JM on his various guitars.

John Mclaughlin/Jeff Beck (electric guitars)
JM/Al Di Meola/Paco De Lucia/Philippe Loli (acoustic guitars)
Dave Sanborn (alto saxophone) Michael Brecker (tenor saxophone)
Tom Hymas/Jim Beard (piano, keyboards)
Joey De Francesco (trumpet, Hammond B3 organ)
Sting (el. bass) James Genus (double bass) Yan Maresch (el. fretless bass)
Mark Mondesir/Dennis Chambers/Vinnie Colaiuta (drums)
Nishat Khan (sitar) Trilok Gurtu/Don Alias (percussion)

Pyh, I need a break.

Intet,

You need a break? Uh-Oh, burning yourself out on Jazz, eh?
Here's the cure; JSBach: Das Wohltemperiete Klavier-Books I & II played by Keith Jarrett - listen to both those recordings three times and youll be fit as a fiddle in no time.

Cheers,
