Hello Intet,

Yes, I know of both of those on-line shops you mentioned. Funny that you mention The Creative Music Studio since I know of it personally and was saddened that the facility closed down back in '84 but lives on "virtually".

Cheers,

CD :):):):)

Is that awesome or what :clap::clap::clap::clap:You know of The Creative Music Studio? Incredible. You know of the two distributors too. Well young man, there are more between the heavens and the earth than we the ants can comprehend.

On topic:

Miroslav Vitous on his first of two albums, with very different musicians though. The first album titled "Universal Syncopations", ECM Records 2003 feat. MV (double bass), Jan Garbarek (tenor and soprano saxophone), Chick Corea (piano) and ole timer :grin: Jack DeJohnette (drums) and a Brass Band.

Miroslav Vitous on the second of the two albums titled "Universal Syncopations II", by the ECM Records 2005:

MV (double bass), Bob Mintzer (tenor saxophone, bass clarinet), Gary Campell (soprano and tenor saxophones), Bob Malach (tenor saxophone), Randy Brecker (trumpet), Daniele di Bonaventure (bandeneon), Vesna Vasko-Caceres (voice) and the two drummers Gerald Cleaver/Adam Nussbaum.

I always fancied the strong sound of the double bass by Miroslav Vitous back to the time, when he was a member of Weather Report and MV with Chick Corea and Roy Haynes. Very powerful double bass using the bow as well.

Hi Mat,

We three as "sponsors" - It sure seems that way - Ah well, there are others who are maybe just reading and wondering what they are missing out on.......

What we are missing out on? It seems - it´s drugs and the local horse s..t obviously. I completely agree with you Mat about drugs. There are far better addictions in life, like the MIMF and jaaaaaaaaaaaaazz. :tiphat:

Btw. Mat, are you heavyly into the unfinished Symphony of der Schubert? I hope you are.

Now for something completely different in jazz.

The Norwegian Ketil Bjørnstad on his album "Water Stories", ECM Records 1993 with some of the very best jazz musicians for decades in Norway.

KB (piano), Terje Rypdal (guitars), Bjørn Kjellemyr (double bass, el. bass) and Per Hillestad or Jon Christensen (drums). :cool:

"When I Fall In Love" by the Standards Trio.

Corno Dolce

I just realised, looking at the liner notes on CD 1 on the "Still Live" album, "When I Fall In Love" comes as number three after "Autumn Leaves", same album.

What a glorius day...:angel::angel::angel:

Next to "When I Fall In Love" comes "The Song Is You" - Awesome song and one of my addmost favourite the Standard Trio performances live. Jack DeJohnette freakin´on the toms and the bass drums. I don´t know of any other drummer in jazz, rock or any other musical style or direction, with such floading cymbals work. He is always inflamatory always way ahead, beyond any invisible borders of what is possible and needed right there and then.

Gosh!!

What a glorius day...:angel::angel::angel:

As a matter of facts dear Uncle "bisquit", I just checked it now. Haven´t heard from you since February 11, when talking about your "duties" - which is not the same as "beauties", I assume dear friend. :lol::lol::lol::lol::whistle::whistle::whistle::whistle::clap::clap::clap::clap::tiphat::tiphat::tiphat::tiphat:

But it´s good you´re hanging in on the "unfinished" mit der Schubert, at the time nothing is more important for you.

"Wood II" by Brian Bromberg.

Corno Dolce

Peter could not find anything with Brian Bromberg in Copenhagen, so I´ve enlargened the search on my library first. I gotta find these two albums "Wood" 1 and 2.

On topic:

The Standard Trio improvising on the album "Inside Out", ECM Records 2002, recorded live at The Royal Festival Hall, London, England on July 26 and 28 2000.

Perhaps you did not find your edition of "When I Fall In Love", composed by Victor Young/Edward Heyman on the "Still Live" album mentioned yesterday, but instead on this one "Inside Out" from London 2000. The final song for the encore.

Anyways dear sir, you make sure to have the best weekend, and may your God follow you wherever you go.

Chris Potter Underground live at the Village Vanguard fascinating

Deeru Piotr

Welcome here at this most addictive thread for jazz connesseurs and other feinschmeckers of jazz. Great to see you dig Chris Potter (born Joseph Christopher Potter in 1971 in Chigaco, Illonois). Rare for a saxophone player to cover the tenor,- the soprano- and the alto saxophone - all of them, but he certainly does. He can also play the piano. And what a career he has had so far.

I don´t know the one you mentioned abowe. Please elaborate on the recording label and the year of release and also please the musicians, he plays with?

I only have CP´s "Unspoken", Concord Records 1997 feat. CP (tenor and soprano saxophone), John Scofield (guitars), Dave Holland (double bass) and Jack DeJohnette (drums) and CP plays the tenor and the soprano saxophone on two other albums, I have by Steve Swallow (el. bass) titled "Deconstructed", Watt Works 1997 and "Always Pack Your Uniform On Top", Watt Works 2000.

I believe his international career began, when he was invited by the drummer Paul Motian to join PM´s band at the time - The Electric Be-Bop Band - in 1993. He plays majesticly on the album "Flight Of The Bluejay", Winter & Winter 1995.

Chris Potter received the Danish Jazzpar Prize for the year 2000.
