Tuesday morning for you guys - a real offer:

http://www.milesdavis.com/music_discography.asp f

For the complete discography by Miles Davis all the way back in the day to the late 1940´s, while MD played in Charlie Parker´s group.

I found this one in a second hand store yesterday, Miles Davis on the album "Collectors´Items" by Prestige Records 1953.

The musicians of the two groups on the album:

MD (trumpet), Sonny Rollins/Charlie Chan (tenor saxophones), Walter Bishop/Tommy Flanagan (piano) Percy Heath/Paul Chambers (double bass) and Philly Joe Jones/Art Taylor (drums).

Listen to "No Line" and you´re back in a basement club in the Chicago winter early 1950´s at 3 PM, where the smoke still hangs low in the whiskey smelling room. The audience are way gone at this time, but the musicians are jammin´

No more jammin´ from Chicago 1953 on this tuesday morning below the heavens. In stead we move to Sonny Rollins on his album "Global Warming", by Milestone/Fantasy Records 1998.

The musicians:

SR (tenor saxophone), Clifton Anderson (trombone), Stephen Scott (piano), Bob Cranshaw (el. bass), Perry Wilson or Idris Muhammed (drums) and Victor See Yuen (percussion).

Finally this tuesday morning, let´s go for The Pat Metheny/Brad Mehldau duo/quartet album "Metheny/Mehldau", released by NoneSuch 2006.

The musicians:

PM (guitars, syntheziser guitar), Brad Mehldau (piano), Larry Grenadier (double bass) and the monster drummer Jeff Ballard.

Listen to the very beautiful songs "Ahmid 6" and "Annie´s Bittersweet Cake" and the final number 10 song "Make Peace".

Obviously Pat and Brad seem to have had a great day at the studio, dueling on the guitar and the piano.

Some info of the tenor saxophone player I mentioned on the Miles Davis album "Copllectors´Items" from 1953, check this link:

When I first saw the name Charlie Chan, I thought of a very old american movie. Or as far as I remember more than one movie, where there is a Chinese Private Eye, whose name was Charlie Chan. It was sort of a comedy on detectives.

If any of you jazz freaks have any info better than this link, I would be grateful. I can´t find anything about him in my American Jazz dictionary.

Brought to you live this wednesday morning the brazilian inspired music by a beautiful lady with an incredible voice significant to her, known throughout the international jazz scene for many years. Her name is Flora Purim born in Brazil. Flora Purim has been singing jazz, samba and bossa nova music for more than 35 years, post her own breakthrough with Chick Corea & Return To Forever in 1972 on "What Game Shall We Play", ECM Records and the next year on the album "Light As A Feather" released by Polydor Records also with Chick Corea & RTF.

On this album "Butterfly Dreams" she recorded with her husband Airto Moreira, a long time well known drummer and significant percussionist known from severel bands of Miles Davis´ in the late 1960-1970´s.

The musicians on Butterfly Dreams, by Milestone Records 1973:

Flora Purim (vocals), Joe Henderson (tenor saxophone), David Amaro (guitars), George Duke (el. piano, piano, syntheziser, clavinet), Ernie Hood (zither), Stanley Clarke (double bass, el. bass) and Airto Moreira (drums, percussion).

What could possibly be more appropriate than continuing with "Light As A Feather" with the original almost acoustic band Chick Corea & RTF.

Check out the songs "500 Miles High" and "Spain", where the voice from Flora Purim really signifies, what a great vocalist she was in 1972-73 and still is.

The musicians:

Chick Corea (piano, el. piano), Flora Purim (vocals), Stanley Clarke (double bass), Joe Farrell (tenor saxophone, flute) and Airto Moreira (drums, percussion)

One of my most favourable jazz albums at all thoughout the past more than 35 years.
