sir Corno Dolce :tiphat: :clap::clap::clap::clap::trp::trp::trp::trp:

Let´s reverse the "You never cease to amaze me". Just returned from shopping for the weekend in sunshine. First important activity before entering steaks to the freezer, to put Pat Metheny´s "First Circle" on, and what do I find, reading you post "If I Could".

You once spoke: "I am to please", need I say more in relation to "son of a ...Mom".:lol::lol::lol: I knew I would make you laugh out loud. Have a nice weekend sir and give my best to the one to be.

On topic:

Pat Metheny Group on the album "First Circle", number 4 song "If I Could" from ECM Records 1984 (Book title as well, by George Orwell)

My favourite flugelhorn player Kenny Wheeler, born in Canada but living in England, on his album "Around 6", by the ECM Records 1980.

On this album Kenny Wheeler has gathered some new musicians playing different instruments, than what was ordinary for him at least 28 years ago.

My very first album purchased with the ECM after borrowing the album "Gnu High", by Kenny Wheeler, ECM Records 1976 at the local library. "Gnu High" had Keith Jarrett, Dave Holland and Jack DeJohnette as fellow musicians in this quartet.

The musicians:

Kenny Wheeler - flugelhorn, trumpet
Evan Parker - soprano and tenor saxophone
Eje Thelin - trombone
Tom van der Geld - vibraphone
J. F. Jenny-Clark - double bass
Edward Wesela - drums

If you´re crazy for soprano and tenor saxophones, listen to Evan Parker´s solo album. You may find it at www.ecmrecords.com

*80/81* by Pat Metheny.

I can only recommend your choice, sir Corno Dolce :tiphat::clap:

Funny, do you remember some time ago, you said: "I don´t listen much PM these days", and I told you: "You´ll be back", now with three albums in a row.

So let me add another:

"Still Life (talking)" recorded by The Power Station, N.Y.C. 1987/remastered for CD by Metheny Group Productions 1992/NoneSuch Records 2006:

Pat Metheny - guitars, synthesizer guitar
Lyle Mays - piano, keyboards
Steve Rodby - double and el. basses
Paul Wertico - drums
Armando Marcal - percussion, voice
David Blamires - voice
(the late) Mark Ledford - voice

1. Song the incredible "Minuano (Six Eight)". Had I not been addicted before listening to this album, I would be instantly listening to "Minuano".

I am crazy for soprano saxophone and I did actually listen to Evan Parker:

Sankt Gerold Variations ECM [1609]

Paul Bley - piano
Evan Parker - soprano and tenor saxophone
Barre Philips - double-bass

One of the worst albums I've ever heard, IMO:rolleyes: Intet, can you specify which exactly album shoud I listen to?

Oh, btw. I've been looking for soprano sax recordings for a very long time now, and everytime I find something it turns out to be some kind of free, avant-garde jazz (which I do not like) album. Help?

My dear friend Mat:tiphat:

The notification on my former Pat Metheny entry was meant for you bro. I figured you would react. Just a minor misconception on my behalf, it turns out not to be the ECM Records, but in stead:

http://efi.group.shef.ac.uk/labels/incus/incus19.html

I found another link so I will be back, but this one is the very first soprano saxophone solo album.

See ya in a New York minute. Back again. Hit the link below and scroll down on the left side of the page to RECORDING INFO and LINER NOTES. This Chicago recident Evan Parker has recorded 8 soprano saxophone solo albums. Add to this various albums for improvised music and with an orchestra.

Best of luck my friend and "Take It Easy Boy Boy", by the Dane Leo Mathisen.

For Mat:

Gary Versace - Hammond B3 organ
John Abercrombie - guitars
Jerry Bergonzi - tenor saxophone
Adam Nussbaum - drums

The title of the album and this quartet call themselves - The Nuttree Quartet, recorded and realesed by Recording Arts 2008.

It´s a rap.

The musicians:

NHØP - double bass, arrangements
Niels Lan Doky - piano, keyboards
Uffe Steen - guitars
Jonas Johansen - drums
and a Big Brass Band

Aloha Intet,

*Travels* was the very first PMG recording I acquired - I savoured the instrumentation and how it was employed by PMG.

Cheers,

CD :):):)

Dear sir Corno Dolce :tiphat::clap:

I thought this morning while at church as a witness to a baby, who did not seemed to be overjoyed during the Christening ceremony, she :cry::cry::cry: BIG TIME. I thought of, why you incidently became interested in the PMG. The answer appeared on the screen, when I returned.

Same with me sir. Besides, I don´t know any other contemporary guitarist nor from the past, who I would make equal to the genius John McLaughlin, though John is often in to classical guitar as well for instance on "Thieves and Poets" with the orchestra: I Pommeriggi Musicali di Milano.

Strange isn´t it, the two of my most loved and favourite musicians, and I haven´t attended a single concert?

Life is beautiful, but not always fair.

As we speak:

Pat Metheny on his album "Imaginary Day", by Warner Bros./Metheny Group Productions 1997.

The musicians:

Pat Metheny - acoustic/el. guitars, acoustic sitar guitar, guitar synthesizer, baritone guitar, el. bass, 42 string Picasso guitar, 12 string acoustic guitar
Lyle Mays - piano, keyboards
Steve Rodby - double bass, el. bass, cello
Paul Wertico - drums
Mark Ledford - vocals, flugelhorn
David Blamirez - vocals, mellophone, melodica, acoustic baritone guitar, el. guitar, trumpet
David Samuels, Mino Cinule, Glen Velez and Don Alias - percussion

I find the song "The Roots Of Coincidence" extremely rockin´unlike the PMG, Pat playing a guitar sound like Slash from the late Guns & Roses on the gutar synthesizer, on half the song and then suddenly completely different sound.
