• Welcome to the Pipe Organ Forum! This is a part of the open community Magle International Music Forums focused on pipe organs (also known as "church organs"), organists, organ music and related topics.

This forum is intended to be a friendly place where technically advanced organists and beginners (or even non-organists) can feel comfortable having discussions and asking questions. We learn by reading and asking questions, and it is hoped that the beginners (or non-organists) will feel free to ask even the simplest questions, and that the more advanced organists will patiently answer these questions. On the other hand, we encourage complex, technical discussions of technique, music, organ-building, etc. The opinions and observations of a diverse group of people from around the world should prove to be interesting and stimulating to all of us.

As pipe organ discussions can sometimes become lively, it should be pointed out that this is an open forum. Statements made here are the opinion of the poster, and not necessarily that of the forum itself, its administrator, or its moderators.

In order to post a new topic - or reply to existing ones - you may join and become a member by clicking on Register New User. It's completely free and only requires a working email address (in order to confirm your registration - it will never be given away!). We strive to make this a friendly and informative forum for anyone interested in pipe organs and organ music.

Hello !

Here are the final version of "Prelude et Fugue en Mi mineur".
I wrote it for a contest that is not already closed. It is not too late to bring some changes to the score. So, I am waiting for your suggestions or criticisms. Please, send your comments. Thanks.

about the contest

about the contest

It is the organ music composition contest of Saint-Bertrand de Comminges, a litle city near by the Pyrennées mountains, in France. First contest was in 2006, this is the 2nd contest (and the 1st one to which I subscribe).
Subscriptions end on april the 1st, but scores can be sent one month later.
1st award is 3000 Euros, second is 1500 and 3rd is 750.
If I win something, I'll offer a journey to my wife, she deserves it.

Jean-Paul,

The contest sounds very interesting ... do lots of composers like yourself compete in this event?

Does someone play these scores or do you send in your mp3 recording of it?

Hi

in 2006, about 15 composers only competed to this contest. This year, they are expecting more.

As i cannot play myself, the president of the contest told me by phone that he will play my music (but only the 8 best composers will be played in public);

i have to send the score and an audio CD. I'll send the music reccorded with virtual organ, unless someone in this forum can play and reccord for me.

About the tempo of Prelude & Fugue

What do you think about the tempo ?
isn't it too fast ? May be 72 will be enough.
Did anyone try to play a passage ?

Thank for your answers.

Thanks Corno dolce

Finally, I have choosen 72 bpm and add some rallentendo and "point d'orgue" (fermata).
Did you played it with your hands and feet or with a sequencer ? Could I hear you ?

Hi J.P.

I played it on the organ and liked the way it fit under my hands and feet. Sorry J.P. I don't do recordings - no offence taken, ok?

Cheers,

CD :):):):)

Jean-Paul,

I've got to give these a try myself ... If I can get them learned (I'm still working on your Noel Variations) proficiently enough, I may try recording them, too.

Hi

The fugue has been revised. A new score is available at LULU.COM for free download.

You can also buy the printed book (very nice) for only 4.13 Euros (+ postage fees).
