Classical music is always my first choice when traveling about town or at home, like now, listening to streaming audio or internet radio, whilst I peruse these forum pages.

You're asking members of a classical music forum if they listen to classical music? What a strange question.

some guy, giving the benefit of the doubt, maybe the info that's trying to be extracted is how many from this forum really do listen to classical music and perhaps how often or rarely is also a good info. why? because it tells us how many are real classical listeners and how many are just lurkers to this forum or how many are just curious. :D

just like if i go to the hard rock forum when i really don't listen to it, and the same question is asked pertaining to hard rock, i could have answered 'never' because i just was curious what's happening in that forum. :)

Twenty five years ago I would have said "never do!".

Ten years ago I would have said: "More than any other music".

Now it is a mixed bag. I play anything I like and I like a lot.

Classical music equals 4% - Jazz equals 90% - Blues/Rock equals 6 %.

I´ve just had the pure luck on a sunny tuesday morning to listen to Behnam, the genius of classical compositions.

Classical = 50%, Jazz = 49%, others = 1%

I see you have a new sentence ""Wise men learn from other's experiences whilst fools only learn from their own experiences" -Otto von Bismarck-".

It´s not true either of the suggestions by Otto von Bismarck. You only have to look at the upstart, the fake President George W. Bush Jr.??? He and his neo conservative Republicans and their initiated www.newamericancenturyprogram do not listen to experiences of others nor stats. on american wars provoked by America.

Intet,

Irregardless of who is the President of this or that country, von Bismarck's observation stands the test of time very well thank you. Von Bismarck's observation is not negated just because someone disagrees with another country's President.

Cheers,

Let´s put it to the test then:

Bay of Pigs - disaster, defeat
Korea - disaster, defeat
Vietnam - multiple human disaster, defeat
First Gulf War - disaster and defeat
Iraq - astronomical economical and human disaster and defeat

or two boys and a lit candle light.

One boy puts his finger into the lit candle light. It hurts.

Do you think the other boy learns from the experience of the first boy, or do you think, he will try himself???

Intet,

It really doesn't matter what conflicts you do or don't bring up - von Bismarck's observations are not negated.

Cheers,

For me it's more than "Sporadically. It's a mixed bag" but less than "More than any other music";). I guess jazz is about 80% of it all.:grin::grin:

Hello Intet, my dear friend:)

This is what you wrote in your former post

He and his neo conservative Republicans and their initiated www.newamericancenturyprogram do not listen to experiences of others nor stats. on american wars provoked by America.

And this is a quote from a totally different thread, but still...
(...) Difficult to go further in to it without getting in to politics and racial matters, which I never do. Beside this, it is not proper on this peaceful website (...).

Has something changed?

Yours respectfully,
Mat

Let me enter another example for you dear sir CD :tiphat:

You go to prison, if you think you personally are abowe the law and do a crime. How many potential criminals do you think have learned the lesson from this experience of other former caught, trialed and convicted criminals, that you don´t go to prison???

You can´t learn from the experiences of other people - IMHO, but you and Otto may have your opinion as well, it´s okay to agree to disagree. ;)

I definately listen to classical music, it is my first love.

I have more classical CDs and LPs than anything else. I do listen to Jazz because that's my husbands prefered music.

I was brought up on classical music, and I don't regret it.

You're asking members of a classical music forum if they listen to classical music? What a strange question.

This particular forum is classical but numerous other forums on this board are not classical. If I understand the concept of the whole board, the goal (or one of them) is to achieve cross-fertilization. It is thus possible that non-classical music participants surf the classical forum by curiosity.
