What classical music do you study with ?

Hi, I really like Bocelli's Amore album both in its own right but also to study to. Can anyone recommend anything similar?

I don't, when I study I need peace and quiet, can't listen to music (as a musician) because I can't not listen without paying attention. I think most musicians are the same.

Oh ? That makes it a little difficult to get some advice. In that case I guess I want someone who knows about music who doesn't feel they need to pay attention all of the time. Maybe they don't exist !

Any classical pieces of Beethoven, Mozart, Haydn or Brahms that isn't too "heavy" makes for great background music while I'm doing my internet work, or reading at home. It fills the void and makes reading and doing other chores much more enjoyable.

Hi Launter

I really like Andreas Bocelli, but having said that I don't think I could study with him.

I am job hunting at the moment and, if I need to concentrate I will listen to more orchesteral music. I find piano music quite good, but I also listen to Aker Bilk as well.

I just find that if I am listening to songs it needs some concentration, which I need for my work.

Any easy listening music which you can have in the background, to relax. I agree with Krummhorn, nothing too heavy.

I do listen to Bocelli, Russell Watson and Pavarotti, but that's when I have finished and don't have to concentrate on anything else.

Anyway good luck with your studies, whatever you listen to.

This reminds me of my favorite scene in the movie "Seven"--Morgan Freeman goes to the public library late at night--gigantic place littered with large old wooden tables and lamps on the tables--to research classic literature on the seven deadly sins, and after chiding the guards for sitting and playing cards with the wealth of knowledge surrounding them, one of the guards pops in some Bach, which we are treated to as Freeman pulls the volumes from the shelves.


For study music, I also have a hard time. It usually has to be new-age type stuff that kind of sounds the same and doesn't attract attention, such as the group (duo) 2002.

I recently acquired tastes in Baroque music but have no ability to list composers etc. I mostly learn tracks off of Bach: Sonatas & Partistas for the solo violin, played through guitar or piano.
