I've been to Mexico but not there. I only got to go across the border to
Juaraz and I had a ball and my parents got me my first guitar there at a
farmers market and giftshop.

You're welcome, Judy; good for you!

Now back to the canvas currently in question.

Hint- The piece is considered one the composer's early works, and does not employ a technique he is well-known for using. I think. lol

:trp: Correct answer!

Well done, CD!

For those who might like to know, the canvas was Starry Night by Van Gogh. Might have been a bit of a stretch on my part, but CD's got it, so...

Indeed CD; the subject matter is quite, erm, unusual...

Judy, does that pic you posted represent a piece of music?

Hi Ms. RoJo,

Your hint tipped me off - Initially I thought of Schoenberg but wanted ON to chime in - he mentioned *Clair de Lune* then I started musing further, running through my mind all the classical works that evoke images of night.

Well done, Ma'am. :up::trp::cheers::tiphat::clap:

Cheers,

CD :):):):)

If you are talking about the waterfall picture and the music for it, I
would consider harp music with that. A pretty waltz played on a
pretty harp.

Even though I don't have such a picture. I was thinking of about ten
angels together wearing white, each one with a different instrument,
one has a harp, one has a flute, another has some kind of lute, and
the rest are singing and clapping in time behind another beautiful
waterfall from the river of life in Heaven. They would be playing such
music like new age or something like that. Nobody has written that
one yet and it sounds just beautiful and it's so relaxing. Can you
imagine that in a picture?

Hi Ms. RoJo,

I'm sorry - I don't know who the painter is or what the painting is entitled.:bawl:

I had typed in "Ein Heldenleben" into the Google search field and checked out the different Google images.

Sorrowfully yours,

CD :banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:

I know little of art and art history, but a few moments of searching reveal that the painting in question is a portrait of Friedrich Nietzsche painted by Edvard Munch.

Looking at the visual style and angle, you could almost replace The Scream character for Mr. Nietzsche, which led me to a Munch search.

Fretless, are you implying that we are lazy?

Ha. I knew I recognized that style; of course I'm familiar with Munch's The Scream. I should have made the connection... Oh well.

Thank you very much, Fretless. :)

If no one posts a pic, I'll have to find one... hmm, that sounds like a threat.

Aah. Very interesting musical association there CD.

Come to think of it, the helmet does look 'ancient Russian'. Should have caught that. Oh well. I'd better brush up on ancient headgear for future pics.

I'll have a looksee later on for a pic to post. :)
