Actually, while I think the idea of a rogue comet crashing through my bedroom window might be slightly inconvenient ... we would, actually have plenty of warning. The fact is there would be nothing we could do to avoid disaster. Considering there are billions upon billions upon billions of coments floating up there in space, it's a certainty that we will get hit. Just look at the surface of the moon.

There are quite a few coments on this forum,;) do you not mean Meteors I thought Comets were mostly Gases, and they can be spotted a long way off. and we have had one or two Meteor near misses in the recent past.

Just watched a special on Sir Isaac Newton and HIS predictions. Seems mathmatics, et al, were not the only thing he wrote about. He predicted the end in 2060. Some very interesting stuff. He was correct about everything else...

Only thing I know if you are of faith.. That only God ( higher being) knows the answer and we probably can not do anything to stop it when the time arrives. I believe no one will know the time of the end of times ahead of the event.

I agree Bill, I don't think anyone can really predict the end of the world. When my time comes there is nothing I can do about it. I shall ignore all this scaremongering, and just enjoy the time I have left.

Agreed Margaret! And I always wonder what the doommongers think when they wake up next morning and find the world hasn't ended. Are they disappointed, or secretly pleased? Then they remember they haven't got anything in the fridge for breakfast. Serves them right!

Yes John, that is an interesting question. You would think they would be glad to be alive, but perhaps not to be proved wrong.

Well, I don't plan on being around in 2060 unless I live to be 103 and since I don't have the money the Queen Mum did, I don't relish the thought of a nursing home. :)

But are you all saying that there is no such thing as anyone being psychic? From personal experience I know that is just not so. But if the world hasn't learned to get along by 2060, a good cleansing of the planet is in order. Just kidding (kind of).

I don't think the end can be predicted accurately, either. But I DO think probability comes into play. And if we believe some scientists, by then there will be colonies on the moon and Mars.

If and when Christ comes back, I would love to see what happens. After researching the great scism (sp?) around the 6th century, it would be interesting to see if Roman Catholocism is the first to go down in flames. What with hoarding all that money, idolotry (praying to statues of saints, etc.) and vows of poverty and chastity that are about as meaningless as the current state of matrimony in society, maybe the orthodox christians and the Protestants have the right idea. I'm no longer firmly entrenched in organized religion due to too many contradictions, but I do know right from wrong and good versus evil. And I am a firm believer in karma.

Maybe one of you younger guyz can send me a message via a Ouija Board and let me know how it all turns out.

Don't ya'll get uptight about this...most of it is meant "tongue in cheek."

The Mayan calendar is cyclical, meaning that it will restart in december 2012. To say that the world will end due to this estimates to saying that the world will end everytime we hit December 31st with our own Gregorian calendar. So, I'm not building a bunker for 2012 :)

1000s of years

hi , opinion from musics123

it looks as if the world will continue 1000s of years
it feels as if worse things and feelings are coming than the end
in the West goodness seems to be fading , while in the East - it is their turn to be the Leader
hopefully new planets will be colonized soon

Well now that's an interesting post. This part in particular.

Care to elaborate on that, musics123?

This sort of 'end of the world' type prediction seems to pop up about every twenty or so years. Humans will probably be extinct long beforethe actual end of the world, but I'm not going to hold my breath. 2012? Pure BS. We are probably in greater danger of destroying ourselves than being destroyed by any outside force.

I am in agreement with you but, perhaps we will survive:cry:
