hehe... it's just that it's a bit confusing to look at those "quasi-nouns" with a capital letter...

the exam went ok - but since it was a written exam I don't know yet if I passed or not, but I would guess that I did.

The computergames?
smile.gif
hehe... - well... I'm a sort of strategy/simulations gaming type - so these two games I got certainly struck home with me

- they are a bit intoxicating at times

Congratulations on your promotion Commander Pamadu!!! You are now the highest ranking officer in the MIMF Navy!!
smile.gif

For now, you shall be known as "Commander of the Music, Down Under". If you would like that changed to something different, I can do that, though.

btw, It won't take years to advance...remember you become 4 star Admiral "already" at 1000 posts

Trebbien. I notice that you will soon be an Officer of the MIMF (magle international music forum) 6 more posts.
cool.gif
you will then be an ensign & allowed in the officers mess ( a place where you learn some of the secrets of the craft....joke.) it is a way of giving us all "incentive" to keep the replies/suggestons/comments/topics etc. going on the main board.
smile.gif
MIMF., to keep this thread going, is only,the initials of the Magle Music Navy (MMN)

getting involved now. hehehehehehe

Thanks for the explanation, pamadu.... It was only the shortening, MIMF, that "teased" me, the rest I knew, but thanks anyway

Yes, I'm upgrading, slow but sure!

Re: New titles! Anyone offended? Then shu...speak up ;-)

As you can see from the edit I made to the first post in this thread, I have introduced a new option: "Civilian". I doubt that there are anyone truly offended by my use of naval ranks, but anyway: Now you can (for whatever reason) chose the be entitled "Civilian" instead of a naval rank.

Civilians are of course "full" members, just like all others, but their title remains the same no matter how many posts they make (one or one hundred posts, a "civilian" stays a "civilian"). Also civilians don't have access to the "Officers' mess" (special part of the forum visible only to members with more than 15 posts and rank of Ensign or higher). Besides from that there are no limitations. Always remember (as Cmdr. Pamadu said so well) this is all in good fun!

he...I really should be working right now but got stuck and needed a small break. Turns out "lawmaking" is actually quite relaxing

You may add "Principal Trumpet" to my title, as far as I can read in your edited "lawmaking" ....

Kindly requested by Trebbien

Re: New titles! Anyone offended? Then shu...speak up ;-)

I'm sorry that I cannot accommodate your request, Ensign Trebbien. The reason for that is that whenever I edit a title manually (which I would have to do in your case), the title will no longer automatically be upgraded in the future (unless I reset the entire system including all custom titles), and I will have to do that manually every time (one of the reasons that "custom titles" are only introduced after 100 posts).
But don't despair, just five more posts and you will become "Lieutenant, Associate Concertmaster"!!

Well, as you said, I'll soon achieve a new title... so I won't despair!

Re: The User Titles (\"Ranks\") On This Forum

I really like the naval/musician theme you used with the forum titles. I can't wait until I reach Commodore, so I can make my own custom one. Should be "Official Forum Guitarist", or something along those lines. Are there any specific rules (besides the obvious) that apply when choosing your custom forum name?

Re: The User Titles (\"Ranks\") On This Forum

Besides the obvious (no offensive language, etc.) there is a rule that the title must start with the "standard" naval rank (e.g. Commodore, Read Admiral, etc.) - or "Civilian" (if you have selected to be titled that). Also, "official" forum guitarist would probably not be possible, but "Commodore, Forum Guitarist" (or something like that) would be fine

Re: The User Titles (\"Ranks\") On This Forum

Here's an advance notice about a major change to the title/rank system that will take place beginning on December 15th, 2005 (2 months from today). This has been planned for a while, and I'm announcing it now to give people time to prepare and to allow for suggestions and feedback from you
smile.gif

The upcoming "title-ladder" will look like this:

0 = Skulker
1 = Recruit, Pianissimo
5 = Apprentice, Piano
10 = Seaman, Mezzoforte
25 = Midshipman, Forte

Officers (with access to the "Officers' Mess"):
50 = Ensign, 2nd Assistant Concertmaster
75 = Lieutenant, Associate Concertmaster
100 = Lieutenant Commander, Concertmaster
150 = Commander, Principal Concertmaster
250 = Captain [of the Orchestra*]

Flag Officers (with access to the "Flag Officers' Council & Lounge"):
500 = Commodore [of Water Music**]
1000 = Rear Admiral [Appassionata**]
2500 = Vice Admiral [con Forza**]
5000 = Admiral [+always custom title**]
10000 = 5 Star Music Admiral [+always custom title**]

(* = can get custom title until February 1st, 2006 but will keep it permanently)
(** = can have custom title)

Important Note: NO ONE who has reached "Ensign" or higher will "lose" rank when the change happens on December 15th - You will keep whatever rank you have at the time, but it will just take a little longer to advance after that
