Who likes Astronomy?

There I was, during a long distance bike-hike, coming up to a point along Lake Erie,
when I saw Jupiter and Venus up in the sky, beautiful to see, beautiful to see astronomy alive in front of me.

Have you ever been watching a minimum 500 watt halogen bulb when it blows?
It looks like a small universal cloud, before it fades away.
And so halogen bulbs disperse into the scene, eventually.

The transit of Venus is due soon a very rare event as in once in a life time

A Sagittarius Triplet

These three bright nebulae are solar nurseries which appear in the constellation Sagittarius are some 5,000 light years away from us. The large one which is left of center is named the Lagoon Nebula and is more than 100 light-years across. Just above it and separated by a dark dust lane is a Nebula bearing only the Messier catalog number NGC 6559. The colorful Nebula on the right of the picture is called the Trifid and just above the Trifid is an open star cluster. The dominant red color is caused by glowing Hydrogen gas while the contrasting blue reasults from dust being reflected by starlight .

Hi Rob,

Thanx for giving good explanations to the Astronomical phenomena taking place. And now with the radio telescope array that stretches from Australia to South Africa on-line new phenomena that have heretofore been undiscovered are now becoming known and new contributions are made to mankinds knowledge base.

The Whirlpool Galaxy

The Whirlpool Galaxy lies some 31 million light-years distant within the angular boundaries of the small constellation Canes Venatici. This pair of interacting galaxies may be found slightly south and west of the last bright star in the handle of the Big Dipper. The spiral arms and dust lanes of the larger galaxy clearly sweep in front of its companion above. These spectacular objects will appear faint and fuzzy to the human eye but the deep image reveals even the faint tidal debris around the smaller galaxy.
