I probably need to apologize. That picture just looks quite different from any other I've ever seen of the St. Sernin organ. I think it's all that light coming through the window. Most pictures I've seen of it seem to be taken up a bit closer. I went on a couple of other sites, and it looks like I stand corrected.

It might be interesting to start a thread on organ cases. No doubt about it, there are some beautiful and quite impressive pieces of work around, and I'd pretty much leave out a lot of the newer modernistic-looking ones. To me, St. Sulpice has always looked rather austere, but the one at St. Bavo in Haarlem, Holland must be a sight to see.

No worries, mate. :):D;) We're cool here and very forgiving. WOW! A thread about organ cases - that could be very interesting but it might be superfluous - many organ pictures have been put up in the various threads.

I agree that the organcase in St. Sulpice is austere - I am not exactly fond of it - what do they say: Never judge a book by its cover, so, Never judge an organ by its case, eh? :grin::grin::grin:
