Hi and hello to all, well I must say I am not sure what to expect from this forum but I am sure it will interesting. I am a small organist with little training. So I am mainly self taught, don't know if that is a good thing. I am looking for a music teacher close to me, show me some more technique, or if any one can direct me to some training material or internet videos etc, I shall appreciate much. I do read music but my left hand is still dumb.

Kind Regards to all.

Hello Victor, I am also a new member on these forums. I am sure that you will find, as I have, a great bunch of people here. Formal training/lessons are the ideal. However the most important aspect is practice, practice and more practice. Everytime I sit on my bench to play I still consider this, practice.

I wish you success with your playing.:):):)

Hi Victorgb

Welcome to MIMF.
Always a pleasure to meet another organist. We have a few forum members from your region of the globe, and I'm sure they will be able to help you find instruction or be able to point you in the right direction.

Raymond (in his post above) is so correct about formal training, and of course practicing. My signature quote (below) gives my thoughts on that subject.

So, what kind of organ to you get to play on there?

As a freelance organist I am privileged to play several church organs mainly pipe organs and the occasional professional organ like Allen, Content, Vicecount etc and then on other times Hammond, Yamaha, Lowery and so on If there is no electricity I have on some occasions played the piano. I mainly play at funerals during the week and some weddings.

Welkom victorgb. I'm sure you will enjoy your visit. I played a chord organ for about 20 years so I couldn't read the music for the left hand at all, but I was fortunate to find an excellent teacher at the local music academy. The local music academy is closed for the winter holiday, until end July, I'm sure somebody there will know of a teacher in the Tzaneen area, it seems all SA musicians know each other.
