    Julie Andrews turns 69

A song (not original) for her 69th birthday, sung to "These are a few of my favorite things ..." (quite funny)

Botox and nose drops and needles for knitting,
Walkers and handrails and new dental fittings,
Bundles of magazines tied up in string,
These are a few of my favorite things.

Cadillacs and cataracts, hearing aids and glasses,
Polident and Fixodent and false teeth in glasses,
Pacemakers, golf carts and porches with swings,
These are a few of my favorite things.

When the pipes leak, When the bones creak,
When the knees go bad, I simply remember my favorite things,
And then I don't feel so bad
Hot tea and crumpets and corn pads for bunions,
No spicy hot food or food cooked with onions,
Bathrobes and heating pads and hot meals they bring,
These are a few of my favorite things.

Back pain, confused brains and no need for sinnin',
Thin bones and fractures and hair that is thinnin',
And we won't mention our short shrunken frames,
When we remember our favorite things.

When the joints ache, When the hips break,
    When the eyes grow dim,
hen I remember the great life I've had,
And then I don't feel so bad.

    My oh my CT64,

You have a bit of a malicious streak in you - naughty boy!

    Cheers,

That's what happens when you grow old. I'm 47 all ready and waiting
for 48 next week. Believe me I don't like it. You know that you are
growing old when AARP keeps sending you emails. I've been getting
them lately. Oh Brother! How time flies when you are having fun!

Julie Andrews ... one of my favorite actress/singers for many years. I was so saddened when learning of her botched throat surgery that ruined that oh so wonderful voice. My two fav movie/musicals with her in starring roles were Sound of Music and Mary Poppins.

Yes indeed, Judy, age has a way of creeping up ... I was always led to believe that life slowed down in retirement ... ... ... it doesn't. AARP - fine organization - you can join once you get to age 50 - great monthly magazine, too. Ahhh, to be 48 again - life starts all over again at 50 ya know ... great to be a 10 year old again, I tell ya

Your teeth fall out. I all ready look like a bunny rabbit with mine missing!
My hair is turning gray with Clairol to keep it covered. I want to sleep
more than ever. I watch my hermit crab wishing I could bottle up the energy
to use it on myself. I even have to fight sleep in church which is a total
nightmare. If I really get tired I'm just like a drunk person. And,
my feet look like a pair of lizards when I forget to use some kind of
    lotion.

Loved the song, yes unfortunately as they say age never comes alone, trouble is I don't like what it brings.

It was a great shame about Julie's operation, she had a very good voice.

Now must go find my walking stick, anyone seen my hearing aid?

Ah aging is a gift...think of the alternative
Some say memory begins to fade as we get older. I like to think of it as information replacement...
Gray hair is a wonderful indication of having hair...
Wearing glasses is the mark of intelligence especially if they are worn at the tip of your nose...
The wrinkles on our skin create shadows which helps to prevent skin damage from too much exposure to uva/uvb rays from the sun...
I have always had selective hearing. I used to get in trouble but now I blame it on age...
Ah the gifts of aging are many...wish I could remember more of them
    I wish You Peace

Will you still need me? Will you still feed me? When I'm 64.

Er, I mean, I'm Contratrombone64 (not 64 years young). Sadly, I'll be 45 in August, I'm banning my birthdays from henceforth to eternity.

Well you know what they say

Did you get to see the video? I thought it was really cute and it had me
in tears too! Being a widow at 45 made me grow old quick. But life has
to go on. Now I belong to this new church and I'm having a blast being
free again. My poor husband doesn't have to suffer no more.

    Hi Judy

The video was lovely. I am glad that you are enjoying being free again, nobody likes to see someone suffer, and I know my husband does at the moment, but I hope the treatment will work.

I had a great uncle and he would always say speak up when you spoke to him. But, if you turned away and said something about him, he would say I heard that. he died in his nineties. Just one of the eccentricities of old age.
