Hi,

I'm Mary from Melbourne, Australia. I adore classical piano music - Debussy, Liszt etc. oh, and Chopin of course.

I also enjoy seeking out new music from emerging composers. So much is happening in Melbourne in this regard and I'm curious to find out what's happening with new music in other parts of the world.

I don't mind that 'spiky' (as a friend of mine calls it) 'atonal' type of new music. But I really prefer music that has a beauty and lyricism to it...music that communicates.

I hope to use this forum to meet new people and share new music and composers that I have found (and, of course to discuss our favourite 'past' composers too!)

Oh, thank-you so much to those of you who have welcomed me to the forum! I can't believe so much time has passed since I joined. Afraid it's 'flu time here in Melbourne and I've been a bit out of sorts lately.

I got out earlier this week with a friend from work and saw some really wonderful plays by first-year drama students at La Trobe University. And on the music front I'm looking forward to attending a new-music concert in a few weeks time...
