Hi, new to this site.
My son and I are working together on composing music. We have a home recording studio, that I bought piece by piece from a friend (my wife has finally accepted not having a dining room - or at least I hope she does), and are religiously getting into it. My goal is to some day compose scores for video/ads, etc. (or a movie - wouldn't that be awesome!) Still educating myself on the business of music, the market, etc. Any good advice would be nice. Good to be here.

What a nice project for a father and son to share doing - sounds like it will be lots of fun, and certainly creates some special bonding time for the both of you. You need to get your wife a dozen red roses every month now for giving up the dining room ... :lol:.

I believe we have a few members who are into home recording or have info to share on this subject.

And welcome to the forums. There is a wealth of information here about doing just what you want to do, with many suggestions for software, etc.

As an alternative, you may want to look at this site: http://cakewalk.com

They have extensive help, many software packages, tutorials, a forum and there are about a zillion video tutorials on YouTube.

Thanks for the warm welcome.
It is great being able to have son who is on the same page with music. We have a few projects that we are working on right now. We're trying to get our latest song up on itunes or amazon. Getting everthing copywritten first - I can't wait. Along with songs that we've written, and beats, we want to get into creating music soundtracks for film.
That would amazing to create music that ends up on a film!!! . I'm working with Mackie equipment, HR824 High Resolution Monitors, MOTU 896 Sound Card, Mackie 16 channel mixer, a Roland Super JV Sound Module, an EMU ??2000 digital sampler, and using DP5 (Digital Performer 5). I have 5 keyboards midi-ed in as well, use mainly my Alesis (great banks of sounds), and my Roland F90 88 weighted key. Taken a little while to put my studio together, having a family, but a few things went under the radar with the Mrs. LOL. Again, thanks for the warm welcome. Erwin and Daniel Solbach.
