Aloha Dame Margaret,
Thank you for sharing that link. I had stumbled upon George Formby a little earlier and thought: Hey, here's something I've never heard before.
Cheerio,

Hi CD
I think he is unique, over here there are George Formby societies, with people playing ukeleles and singing. Norman Wisdom was also popular, and appeared in quite a few films.

Aloha Dame Margaret,
I've heard from some friends that he plays a *Banjolele*

Ah CD, a Banjolele, half Banjo and half Ukelele.
Margaret
Oh, thanks so much you two. These really brought a smile to my face and provided for a very nice, albeit short respite from some of the current concerns of the day...Most appreciated. Bravo/brava!

Hi Mat
Banjo is pronounced exactly at it is spelled. The first part is ban (as in the word ban, to stop something happening), and the second part is jo (as in the short English name for Joseph) I hope that helps, if it doesn't perhaps CD has a better way of putting it.
Glad you enjoyed them Stephen.
Margaret
Hi Mat
You are welcome, I am glad you understood my explanation.
Does anyone know of Dame Hilda Bracket and Dame Evadne Hinge? Two very funny ladies (well men pretending to be ladies.)

Margaret, Those two are a blast. Oh, those Dames...Ain't nothin' like 'em, right?
Are you familiar with Dame Edna Everidge? Totally hysterical. She used to have a tellie show with huge stars on every week...from Joan Collins to Charlton Heston. One of the best shows featured Gina Lolabrigida.
Here's a link to a show from the UK: http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...37712729436584
Hope you like it.

Oh Marval, thanks for the trip down Memory Lane. When I was at school we were taken on an excursion to see some daytime TV show or other filmed and Dames Bracket and Hinge were guests on the program. I remember them performing an outrageously camp version of Rule Britannia and singling out my teacher for special attention due to her enthusiam while singing along.
