Intro From Downunder (nz)

Hi; Greetings from Auckland, New Zealand from a 73 yr old who is hoping to redevelop his church organ playing skills after a break of about 15 years following a severe stroke. I'm planning to buy a used Baldwin (two manuals & full pedal board) as it is a smaller brother to the organ I hope to play at the church I attend.
The stroke reduced my left-hand/foot ability and I need a recommendation of a suitable practice book that would help me overcome that disability.
My interests, apart from the organ, include driving school buses in the Auckland area which involves riding my K1100LT ex-cop motor-bike to & from work. I also enjoy getting out into the countryside for an occasional ride on my days off.
My wife & I emigrated to NZ from Lancashire (schooled in Rochdale & Fleetwood, wife in Blackpool) in 1956 and have since raised three kids, worked for a number of large NZ corporates, developed a berryfruit farm from bare land, and established a fruit processing business which is now run by our son & his family.

Hello Shavian, welcome to the forum. What an interesting life you enjoy. Can't be of help with practice book I'm afraid but I taught a gentleman in similar circumstances to yourself and found the main thing you have to do is keep at it until new receptors in the brain remember what you are doing. Don't tackle too many things at once. A case of "More Haste, Less Speed". Wonderful therapy is music. Sylvie

Welcome to MIMF, shavian

I can only echo the superb advice of Sylvie's post above ... no book in the world will be able to restore your playing ability ... only you yourself can accomplish this, though it may seem impossible at the moment, but with a proper diet of practicing daily and gently working on this, you will succeed.
