New York Laguardia Hudson river plane crash pictures

Great pictures, I can't imagine what it must have been like.

Yes, we can only thank God that the pilot used his head, and brought all the people down safely. It could have been a lot worse.

It occurred to me there are some strange things about this whole Hudson River landing incident. Not least, that it occured in New York, remarkably close to the scene where the tragic events of 2001 happened, that tragedy being for the outgoing US presidency its defining moment. That in itself is highly unusual, isn't it ? If we overlook such facts others soon appear.

The pilot was (according to reports) a previous employee of NASA. This in itself is surely unusual.

Third, the precise moment when this spectacular and remarkably fortunate event occurred coincided with precise moments of the broadcast short farewell speech of the Bush presidency itself.

Starting to stretch our credulity, yes ?

Fourth, in early reports it was said the plane had lost its engines. It supposedly took over a day (apparently) for it to be realised by those searching for engines that at least one engine was still attached to the plane itself ! I mean, is this not remarkable in itself ?

Fifth, there are serious contradictions about what actually happened. For example, we're told by at least one passenger there was a fire in one engine following a collision with birds. But there are no witnesses to any engine fire/s amongst those who actually watched and reported on the final moments of this same flight.

And sixth, to date, there has been no real statement by those involved on what supposedly happened.

Of course it's great everyone survived. But even the basic facts of what happened remain at this time mysterious and involve numerous coincidences which must surely make it one of the most strange events of our times.

Here is televised footage of the incident in real time. But there's something strange about it. If you look closely the camera clock is showing the precise live time second by second. At around 3.31.01pm local time the camera picks up the plane. The film and the clock continue without break and at 3.31.40pm (i.e. less than 40 seconds later) we are already zoomed in to a shot of passengers walking along the wings of the plane !

Some speed !! So in less than 30 seconds from when this plane first struck the water the plane and its passengers have not only landed and come to a halt in the river but the plane and its passengers have also somehow travelled far down river from the point where they landed and are already outside the fuselage walking on both wings ! You will perhaps pardon me for pointing out these things which anyone can see for themselves.

This may be a case of putting five economists together and coming out with eight opinions. Anything involving so many people is sure to having varying views.

I haven't seen any moving footage of the incident, but they have said it will be studied for a LONG time. Interesting that these airplane incidents always take eons to "study". Does one incident have much to do with the next one?

No doubt about it, the hand of God seems to have been a large factor. As for the short time betwen splashing and people out on the wings, it wasn't exactly a situation to waste time in. What is interesting is that, according to reports, most of the passengers seemed to keep their wits about them. Which is not the same as saying they weren't terrified. But all in all, the fact that not one life was lost has to be a combination of skill and luck.

I might point out that video cameras aren't the best for examining still frames. The shutter speeds simply aren't fast enough to stop much of anything moving. In other words, they work as moving, but not as stills, which are usually rather blurred.

Well, in this case we have second by second coverage of the event as you can see clearly running alone the bottom of the footage. This object appears to land well in the river far to the left of the shot. And yet the same camera focuses on it now far to the right of the original shot - a considerable distance, in fact - and this not more than 30 seconds later. Which begs the question how many seconds after it touched the water this plane came to rest with passengers strapped in for an emergency landing ? And how it is physically possible for a now resting aircraft on water of hundreds of tons weight to be somehow be transported to the far right with lots of passengers already exited from it, already standing quietly in rows on its wings, within that same time frame. Bizzare indeed !

Blurred or not you may agree these images simply do not add up.

I don't argue, but is there a guarantee that it was the same camera? Even granting that video cameras have real-time clocks, could there have been more than one camera involved, and some judicious editing done by some happy soul? It doesn't make sense that there would be a jump in the coverage from one camera.

The famous "Zapruder" film of JFK's assassination was analized to death, and I'm not sure that ever solved much. Again, there's a problem with movie/video cameras not being much good for analyzing single frames. Which is not what we're talking about here, but the fact remains that there may have been some playing around before somebody decided to put it out for the public.

I think the guarantee it was the same camera (or, at least, is meant to be a true record) consists in the unbroken clock/timeline in the footage itself which comes from a source which, prior to impact, is clearly not manned. Footage which, if 'played around with' before it was released indicates that the content itself is, to some extent, bogus. It's physically impossible for passengers to be lined up on the wings of that plane far from its impact point within 30 seconds when, in fact, the plane first came to a halt in the water far from the point where we see its passengers for the first time, those passengers being secure in their seats at the time of impact, and there was no force that could have moved them and that plane to such a far away location within that timeframe. Nor any reasonable explanation of how that plane was in a state of being evacuated, with many passengers already lined up on both wings - and all of this achieved within that supposed timeframe.

And yet, we see images of people walking on the wings of a plane.

The whole footage is extremely strange. Perhaps others will have suggestions on it ?

To say nothing of the fact that, within a few seconds of hitting the water the plane (and those standing on its wings) are already surrounded by two boats (both of some size) which have already travelled to that point in response to the landing. Boats that seem large enough to have carried all passengers on the plane itself.
