    Quest for a Grander Tutti

Since my VPO has a two-manual console, I find myself limited in getting that "Great Organ" sound. What would be really cool is if a Grand Organ were sampled, going through the pedals and manuals, with all of the stops drawn. This way, I could program my pistons to activate these "Grand Tutti" samples, and it would only require adding 3 to 5 stops to my existing definition...

    Additional Stops:
    Pedal Tutti
    Great Tutti
    Swell Tutti, etc.

Are there any such sample sets out there? What are you guys doing to get that BIGGER sound out of your VPOs?

    Thanks for your help!

    Hi Jay,

I use MyOrgan with about 80+ ranks, so the Tutti combination activates all the loud stops and the octave coupler. Nice idea to have a separate recorded rank with the full sound of a Tutti though. I don't know of any free MyOrgan samples that have this. The jOrgan Praestant 1 from http://www.rite-instruments.de/ has four 'stops' that are like this - but I'm not sure if the soundfont is using multiple samples to create the combination or if it is a single sample.

    Hi Jay

if you are able to edit your ODF, you can get a great Tutti only by adding new couplers like Positiv to great 4', Pos/G 16', Great to great 4', G/G 16' and so on. this is easy to do and doesn't request more RAM memory.

You can also add stops from an other organ. It will ask for more memory and t is possible the new stops aren't tuned at the same pitch (it is easy to repair with pipetune.exe)

Thank you both for your replies...

Jean-Paul - Would you have a suggestion on which stops I should look for? My dilemma is I am no expert in registration and I don't want to add a whole bunch of stops to my ODF that I cannot otherwise access by way of a physical drawknob... But I do want that BIG pipe organ Sound - 32-foot ranks and all!

    @ JayR,
How's your quest going? Have you found the Grand Daddy Tutti of 'em all yet? :-)

    Hi El Supremo

I have helped JAY, giving him a solution and designing his ODF.
This ODF works with the pipes of Kitchener organ 1 & 2
