Lord of the Rings Score - your opinions and fav tracks

Well, I think that it's simply the best movie score ever composed. Powerful, emotional, atmospheric...timeless! What do you think of it? My fav tracks must be:

1. Breaking of the Fellowship (The Fellowship of the Ring)
2. Forth Eorlingas (The Two Towers)
3. Concerning Hobbits (The Fellowship of the Ring)
4. The White Tree (Return of the King)
5. The Riders of Rohan (The Two Towers)

My favorite is still the first one. It has that 'fairy-tale' feeling to it. The other two are more... battle-like, so to speak. And the whole trilogy is undoubtedly my favorite musical work of all time. It's the only piece that I listen to almost every day and NEVER get tired of. A masterpiece...

PS I hope that the above paragraph is not too emotional?

Anyway, I'd be glad to hear your thoughts, too.

"Into the West" is a wonderful track, I agree. Very theatrical and emotional. But of all end-title songs I still prefer Enya's "May It Be", which is more expressive and atmospheric.

I only know The fellowship of the ring and I think it`s a great album

, so it`s difficult to choice, but if I have to, I would say
1. May it be (Enya), I just love her voice
2. The council of Elrond, great song and a beautiful voice

I'm also an Enya fan. I have her latest album as well. My favorite off of it would have to be "Fallen Embers."

LOTR? Well, I'm not a big Howard Shore fan, but he does have some talent. I think one of my all-time favorite tracks would have to be "Evenstar," off of the Two Towers soundtrack.

I love Concerning Hobbits and The Breaking Of The Fellowship....
The Soundtrack is really great and I like to listen to it....

I really like the "Hobbits" Theme - so playful and fun. I also like "Aniron".

If I remember correctly, "Into the West" won many different awards for its brilliant musical composition. Does anyone know what group they used for the soundtrack, or did they hand-select the artists that helped compose it? I almost bought the soundtrack myself (very rare for me) however I got it has a gift before I had the chance to. Very little filler might I add. All of the songs were brilliantly composed, and I can't honestly think of one off of the top of my head that I didn't enjoy.

I loved all the music, too, especially the very grand number during the lighting of the beacons in Return of the King. It's every bit as majestic as the spectacular scenery on the screen. It's been a while since I've had a Lord of the Rings film festival in my lounge room ...

It's one of the best soundtracks I have ever heard, totally fitting the movies, even though there is a considerable influence of Gliere and Prokofiev (Alexander Nevsky) in the score. The three closing songs are marvellous, espcially Annie Lennox' Into the west and even better Emialiana Torrinni's Gollums song (both are amongst my all-time favourite songs).

Art Rock - whilst I thought the Lord of the Rings sound track (at least for the one I watched) was good. I didn't think it was original in the slightest. I mean, I know it's not from Hollywood, but had that feel to it ... I wonder what Hollywood movie music scores would have turned out like had not Gustav Holst, Richard Strauss and Wagner not been around.

Hey people, well, all the music from LOTR is awsome, but my personal favorite is the song that Pipin sings when faramir is sent to osgiliath and his father is eating, that song really gives me chicken skeen
