Noobie Question Here .. (duck!)

I've searched, but not a whole lot came up .. prolly because it's so old .. BUT!
I play acoustic guitar, so I'm not totally music challenged, and I love the keyboard instruments.

I remember fooling around on a buddy's Yamaha DX7 and loving it!
Their priced pretty good now due to all the new stuff and technology .. sooo
I also came across another friend of a friend who has a Roland XP10 .. wow! :D

I wanna get into this stuff and just play for fun .. so my question is,
What are the pro's and con's of either a DX7 or a Roland XP10?
They're prolly completely different sysytems all-together, and you're gonna yell at me ..

But seriously, they seem sorta similar to me, and they both take a standard headphone jack,
that way, I can learn and stll maintain a girl-friend .. and my 5 month old kitten won't go deaf! :p

I see them both on eBay, and I'm wondering about *cards* or, *programs*
that that can be plugged in and they're availability today.
I know there's prolly a ton of stuff that's out there, that blows both of these outta the water.
Nevertheless, I ain't no Rockefeller .. so yeah, budget is of concern ..

Anyone have any first-hand experiance or knowledge about these two lovely keyboards?

Thanks in advance folks ..
Tomi

I do not have these two but do have a "Casio Priva px-100" and as far as a basic keyboard with touch sensitive action and added instrumentation, rthyms etc.. and Have been very happy with it. I teach and use it frequently for couching particularly voice. And as I live in a travler trailer since retirement it works out great for practice and have the big organ in outside patio type room. For learning you do not need the Best only good quality for practice... Good luck, Bill

Thanks wljmrbill !!!

I really have my heart set on the Roland XP10 .. but, if I can find a nice Yamaha DX7,
I'm going with one also ..

I won't actually be "learning" as I can play some stuff, but, I'll be re-learning the system.
I'm pretty familiar with the Yamaha, but I also like what the Roland offers as well.

Thanks for chiming in on this, as .. err, I fergeted my password and couldn't get back in lol!

Anyone else with any input .. umm, aside from the fact that I'm a dork
and forgot my password ..
